Everything Star Wars Has Revealed About The Lost "Jewels Of The Old Republic"
Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 4Star Wars has introduced the "Jewels of the Old Republic," and the second half of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew season 1 is sure to reveal more about these mysterious planets. While the Old Republic era had countless stories and a rich history in the original Star Wars Expanded Universe, now known as "Legends," this period hasn't been explored in canon. This makes any lore about the Old Republic a welcome addition to new Star Wars movies and TV shows.
Skeleton Crew's primary focus thus far has been on its characters and their quest to return home, but the underlying mystery of At Attin and its sister planets is fascinating. Despite how little concrete information has been confirmed, there is enough to see that the story is building to an important payoff that will drastically affect the characters. It also opens several possibilities for the Jewels of the Old Republic to play a role in upcoming Star Wars projects.
The Jewels Of The Old Republic Were Protected Planets
Prosperous societies hidden from prying eyes
One of the most notable reveals about At Attin is that it is cut off from the rest of the galaxy. When Wim and his friends find a hidden ship and accidentally take off into hyperspace, they note how they have never seen stars before, since their planet is surrounded by a barrier that makes it impossible for outsiders to find them. It's also forbidden to leave At Attin, and the reason is implied a few episodes later.
All But One Of The Jewels Of The Old Republic Have Been Lost
They were destroyed for unknown reasons
As the heroes continue their quest to return home, they learn the legends of their home planet and its connected systems. It is implied that all the other Jewels of the Old Republic were destroyed in ancient times, making At Attin the last surviving civilization. This would explain why the people of At Attin chose to remain hidden for so long and forbid anyone from leaving to risk more destruction.
It Looks Like All Jewels Of The Old Republic Have The Same Layout
Wim and the others recognize the design from At Attin
Although it was established that the Jewels of the Old Republic were connected, it was still a surprise when it was revealed that each planet seemed to have the exact same design for the cities. This means that each world the characters visit will be a variant of the last, with the same basic layout but a different history and people. It makes for an ironic scenario, as the original founders intended each planet to look identical.

This raises several questions about why the Jewels of the Old Republic were designed to be exactly the same. The simple answer is that following the same design would be the most efficient way to quickly set up multiple colonies, especially if it was done with the aid of droids. However, perhaps the founders recognized they were in danger and sought redundancy to ensure at least one version of their civilization would survive.
At Achrann Fell To War
The exact opposite of At Attin
The first Jewel of the Old Republic the characters visit is At Achrann, which is completely different from At Attin. While At Attin is a prosperous society with no violence or conflict, the people of At Achrann are constantly at war for resources. This has caused the leaders to treat children as adults, expecting them to become soldiers to defend their respective clans.
This is one aspect that At Achrann has in common with At Attin despite their surface-level differences. Both societies place enormous pressure on children to excel at their responsibilities, whether contributing to the "great work" on At Attin or the war with rival clans on At Achrann. It reveals a possible shared philosophy that dates back to their shared ancestry, which the remaining episodes will explore further.
At Attin Is Seen As A Lost, Legendary Treasure Planet
One that pirates are eager to find
Because At Attin has been secluded for so long, most people believe it is a myth. However, the legends say that At Attin is a treasure planet, though what this treasure is has yet to be revealed. It could be Old Republic credits, which are shown to be plentiful on At Attin. Whatever this Star Wars treasure is, it will likely be one of the final reveals when the heroes of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew find their way home.
