Jeff the Land Shark is a popular little apex predator in Marvel Rivals, but some players are a bit fed up with his ultimate ability. While some find Jeff to be the cutest shark to ever exist, others believe his ultimate ability, "IT'S JEFF", is highly overpowered and should be taken down a notch.

A recent Reddit thread from LmaoYeahItsMe surfaced showcasing all the ways different heroes in Marvel Rivals can combat the silly shark's ultimate ability, and it has helped several players avoid getting swallowed and spit out over the edge of the map. Several heroes in the game can use a specific strategy to avoid the ultimate, but it seems the developers at NetEase thought his ult needed even more power, as they made changes to it in the latest update.

While the original poster on the Reddit thread is not the one who created the video, as credit is given to Gameclipspro on TikTok, these strategies do help those struggling to get Jeff off their tail. The user has posted several shorts on how to take Jeff on, which, taking a look at the comment section, appear to have helped numerous players. Commentor Xero0911 states, "Hulk barrier just straight ups counter it? Also shocked by Groot but does make sense."

The short showcases Hulk being able to stop the ultimate with his barrier, while Groot can utilize his wall of bark to hide from Jeff mid-ult, which does make sense to a degree. Those who main the tree-like Vanguard seemed to have no idea this was possible, which could be a game changer moving forward. One of the other strategies is to wait until players hear the cue from Jeff that his ult has been used and spread out. KevinRudd-PM says, "Seriously, just taking 5 steps apart from your team will make sure he only gets 1 person max, and the rest and beat him up to get them out."

Even after fans complained about Jeff the Land Shark's ultimate being too much to handle, the developers seemed to believe it was underpowered. In a recent update, the patch notes stated,

Jeff the Land Shark's Ultimate: No more premature ends to Jeff's ultimate after swallowing a target. He is now living the ultimate life longer!

This does not specify how much the ultimate has changed, but it does say that the shark will be living the ultimate life longer after swallowing opponents. Whether it was only changed by a few seconds doesn't matter, as many believe the ability to take an entire team and jump off the side of the map is annoying enough with the amount of time Jeff previously had. As someone who plays Jeff quite often, I don't think the hero needed a boost in terms of the ultimate ability.

There is nothing worse than hearing the ult go off and knowing in a matter of seconds the shark is going to swell around you and throw you off of the side with very little to be done about it. Hopefully, these counters can be used more often to take the cute and cuddly creature on when needed, but for now, Marvel Rivals fans will have to just watch out a bit more closely for Jeff until he gets a nerf.
