Winnie-The-Pooh Horror Franchise Crossover Will Introduce Another Iconic Children's Character, Reveals Blood & Honey Producer: "Gonna Be A Nightmare"
With the movie set to bring together some of the most iconic names together for a bloody showdown, Scott Jeffrey reveals Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will introduce another classic children's character. The upcoming movie, tentatively slated for a late 2025 release, will be the culmination of The Twisted Childhood Universe that began with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey. In the same vein as Freddy vs. Jason and The Avengers, the Poohniverse plot will bring together the horror versions of Pooh, Peter Pan, Bambi, Pinocchio and many others, who team up to hunt down their survivors.
During a recent interview with JoBlo for the upcoming release of Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare, Scott Jeffrey shared some insight of what's to come from Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. In laying out his and director/producing partner Rhys Frake-Waterfield's vision for the crossover, the producer began by revealing the movie is working on "a larger scale budget" than the individual titles, while also confirming each movie has "Easter eggs hinting toward the crossover":
Similar to The Avengers, we will follow Pooh, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl, Piglet, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, Bambi, The Mad Hatter, Peter Pan, and Tinkerbell joining forces to wreak havoc. We are working with a larger scale budget on this one and are excited for what the future will hold. When you see the standalone movies, you will see the Easter eggs hinting toward the crossover. Some of the villains also will not see eye to eye, which will allow for some carnage within the group in some epic sequences of monster vs. monster.
As he continued explaining how the monsters would all collide, Jeffrey revealed Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will introduce Mary Poppins to the TCU, teasing she will be "a nightmare" in the film. He also teased that the movie will have a massive body count in which those killed may not get the resurrection treatment, warning that audiences will be able to "count on a hand who's going to survive". Check out the rest of what Jeffrey shared below:
You’re gonna get Mary Poppins. I just decided she’s gonna be in the mix. So she’s gonna be a nightmare in there. And also, just don’t expect anyone to survive. I love that Avengers [Infinity War] where they all die at the end, like Spider-Man and all that. Typically, I don’t like those films. And I got dragged to the cinema, and when they all died, I was like, "Oh, I love it now, I want to watch the next one." But then, when they all got resurrected, I was like, [motions dismissively]. But in ours, truly, I want you to kind of, hopefully, like these characters. Like when you have your introductory films like Pinocchio, that you love the lead characters, and same with Peter Pan. But I’m going to destroy them in-universe, and no one’s… like, it’s gonna be like you can count on a hand who’s going to survive it.
What This Means For Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble
The TCU Won't Be The Same After The Crossover
Close
While a release still seems to be a ways away for Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble, Jeffrey and Frake-Waterfield clearly remain passionate about their unique horror franchise's future. After the first Winnie-the-Pooh was met with scathing reviews, the latter promised future films would be drastically better. Though the sequel was still not quite a critical hit, Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 2 did see far better reviews, with its 47% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes being about 16 times better than the first movie's.
As for Jeffrey's comments above, it seems like Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will change the TCU in a number of major ways going forward. Beyond the crossover, only one character is confirmed to be getting a sequel, with Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey 3, which Jeffrey and Frake-Waterfield announced as part of the first sequel's release. The only other movies announced thus far are Awakening Sleepy Beauty and Snow White Returns, which could mean everyone from Peter Pan to Bambi and Pinocchio won't survive the crossover.

The other potential takeaway from Jeffrey's tease is that Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will set up new characters to get solo movies going forward. The introduction of Mary Poppins to the TCU in the crossover seems primed to have her carry on in her own movie, be it a prequel exploring her time before Monsters Assemble or sequel to it. Additionally, with the Mad Hatter being introduced in the movie, Jeffrey has already confirmed that Alice & The Mad Hatter is in the works, though it's unclear if it will be before or after Poohniverse.
Our Take On Jeffrey's Poohniverse Teases
A Continued Focus On Quality Could Lead To A Long Life For The TCU
Considering the lengthy road many of the other solo movies have taken since first being announced, including Peter Pan's Neverland Nightmare and Bambi: The Reckoning taking upwards of three years to make from their announcements, I don't think Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble will see as quick of an arrival as Jeffrey and Frake-Waterfield are aiming for. That said, if they do continue their devotion to improving the franchise's quality with each movie, I have a lot of faith not only in the crossover, but in the TCU's future.
