All Free Fortnite Skins & How To Get Them
Fortnite allows you to get free skins through various methods, often related to special events, collaborations, or promotions. One common method is completing challenges during limited-time events, which can unlock unique rewards like skins. Sometimes, partnerships with other brands lead to free skin giveaways that require you to link your account or join specific promotions.
Epic Games does this to thank their players for staying loyal to Fortnite. The game already has a sizable fanbase, but getting free skins easily keeps players returning because it's better to get free skins for completing an easy task than to miss out. Like Battle Pass exclusives and some Fortnite item shop IP collaborations like Riot's Arcane, free Fortnite skins leave the game over time, so you should grab these skins as soon as possible.

How To Get Chord Kahele
To get the Chord Kahele skin in Fortnite, you need to play the game's mobile version and earn experience points (XP). This skin is only available to mobile players; Android users worldwide can access it, but only iOS users in Europe can unlock it due to Apple’s store rules in the US. Android users and iOS users in Europe can download the Fortnite mobile app on their smartphone or tablet, log in with their Epic Games account, and earn 100,000 XP to unlock Chord.
This free skin is available for a limited time, and you need to unlock it before February 21, 2025. After that date, it won’t be free anymore and will likely be sold in the Item Shop for V-Bucks later.
You can earn XP by completing matches, finishing challenges like the Winterfest 2024 quests, or playing custom maps designed to help you level up faster. If you’re having trouble earning XP quickly, try looking for custom XP maps in Fortnite to help you reach the 100,000 XP goal before the deadline.
How To Get Trailblazer Tai
To get the Trailblazer Tai skin in Fortnite, you need to play the LEGO Fortnite mode and complete some simple tasks. This skin is part of the True Explorers Quest Pack, which you can find in the Item Shop for free under the Special Offers & Bundles section. You won't have to spend any V-Bucks on it because it's a special giveaway for the LEGO Fortnite collaboration.
Related Was Fortnite OG worth the wait? Fortnite OG is here, and after having played quite a few matches in the game mode, I have a few issues with it. There is something great about going back to the original map with the friends you used to play the game with. In that regard, I love Fortnite OG. However, since the game was s primitive back then, I have found it way harder to come across shields, chests, and goot loot on the move. I still enjoy playing it with my friends, but Fortnite OG will likely be at its best starting with season 3's additions.
First, buy the True Explorers Quest Pack for free. Then, head into LEGO Fortnite and complete four different challenges. These challenges are:
Invite an NPC to live in your village in a Survival World
Craft a Shortsword in a Survival World
Build a Spinning Wheel in a Survival World
Use a Recurve Crossbow in combat to hit and damage an enemy
Once all four challenges have been completed, you will find Trailblazer Tai and his second style in your locker.
How To Get Mr. Dappermint
To get the Mr. Dappermint skin in Fortnite for free, connect your LEGO Insiders account to your Epic Games account. Visit the Account page on the Epic Games website, look for the "Apps and Accounts" section, and scroll down to find the LEGO account option. Click on that to start linking the accounts. You'll have to log into your LEGO account to confirm the connection.
Once your LEGO and Epic Games accounts are linked, the Mr. Dappermint skin will automatically appear in your Fortnite locker. If you’ve already linked your accounts to get the Explorer Emilie skin, you should already have Mr. Dappermint since it’s a bonus reward. You can use this skin in all Fortnite game modes.
How To Get Santa Dogg
To unlock the free Santa Dogg Winterfest 2024 skin in Fortnite, you will need to open the correct present during one of the 14 days. Visit the Winter Lodge via the snowflake symbol in the main menu and open the small, square box with gold wrapping on the carpet in the center of the room. It appeared near the TV between the couch and the left stack of presents as of December 25. Opening this gift grants the Santa Dogg skin.
You can only open one present per day during the Winterfest 2024 event, so you may need to wait a day if you've already claimed your daily gift.
In addition to the Santa Dogg skin, some of the other presents in the Lodge contain free matching cosmetics from the Snoop on the Stoop set, like the Holadizzle Bass, That's Cold, Jac reindeer back bling, and Dogg Treat pickaxe. Be sure to come back before Winterfest ends on January 7, 2025, to claim all these free rewards.
How To Get Yulejacket
Like Santa Dogg, to unlock the free Yulejacket skin in Fortnite, you will need to open the correct present in the Winter Lodge during Winterfest 2024. Visit the Winter Lodge via the snowflake symbol in the main menu and select the left stack of presents. Yulejacket can be found in the tall, green box with the red ribbon, closest to the fireplace. However, she's a bit more difficult to claim than any of the other rewards.

Upon choosing the correct box, you'll see that the option to open it is grayed out and includes the instructions to "Save for Last!" This seems to mean you will need to open 13 other presents between now and January 7 before you can unlock her.
It is possible to claim Yulejacket slightly earlier. To do this, you will need to open the seven other presents in the left stack first. Then, choose this final box to claim the Yulejacket skin.
Yulejacket is part of the Team Festive set. Other presents in the Winter Lodge contain the other free cosmetics in this set, including the Yule Bag back bling, Humbug Slicer pickaxe, and Peppermint Paraglider.

Over the years, Epic Games has given away many free skins through events and challenges. These skins were a great way to add to your cosmetic collection without spending money. However, many of these offers are no longer available, which means the skins are now considered "expired." Below are all the expired skins so far.

These free skins were available for a limited time. Once the event ended, the skins were no longer available, leaving players without a way to get them. Some of these expired free skins may return to the Item Shop in the future, as Epic Games has changed exclusivity rules for other cosmetics like Battle Pass skins.

Easy Ways To Get Free Fortnite Skins

Fortnite has several ways to get free skins, allowing you to add to your collection without paying real money. One guaranteed way is by joining tournaments, where you can earn exclusive skins by finishing each tournament with a high rank. These competitions take place often and offer a fun way to get cool cosmetics.
Related Fortnite Brick Life Looks Set To Be A Genuine Competitor To GTA Online Fortnite’s latest mode, Fortnite Brick Life, looks an awful lot like Rockstar’s GTA Online, although that isn’t inherently a bad thing.
Another great chance to earn free skins comes from special in-game events and unique quests. Completing these events usually rewards you with free skins and other items. For example, the Winterfest event typically gives two free skins yearly. Sometimes, attending live in-game events can also result in free items. While not always guaranteed, giveaways from third-party sources can be another way to get free skins, even though Epic Games rarely releases official codes.
Services like Twitch Prime used to provide free skins, but that’s no longer available. However, there's no telling when this perk and others like it could return. Besides these options, getting a Fortnite Crew subscription, finishing limited-time quests, and leveling up through the Battle Pass can give you free cosmetic items and some V-Bucks.
