Avatar 3 Concept Trailer: Pandora Is Left In Ruins By Ash People As Jake Sully Faces New Enemies & Familiar Foes

A concept trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash reveals Pandora in ruin. Set for release at the end of next year, Avatar 3, which has the subtitle Fire and Ash will continue the hit franchise popularized by 2009's Avatar and 2022's Avatar: The Way of Water. Both films were huge financial successes, and currently maintain spots as the no. 1 and no. 3 top-grossing films of all time, with Avatar making $2.9 billion and its sequel bringing in $2.3 billion. As of now, the plot for Avatar: Fire and Ash remains unknown.

A guess at Avatar 3's plot is revealed through the new video from The Yeti. The trailer opens by showing familiar views of Pandora, highlighting its mystique, before revealing a darker truth that "the fires of war are spreading." The concept trailer then reveals that the "ash people" have formed an alliance with the enemy people, RDA. The narrator goes on to say that "if fire represents hatred, anger, and violence, then ash is its aftermath." Brief glimpses at the imagined ash people are shown to be Na'vi with fire in their bodies.

Avatar 3 Could Have A New Enemy

Close

None of the elements of this concept trailer have been confirmed to be plot points in Avatar 3, as the movie's plot is still under wraps. However, the Ash People are expected to be villains in Avatar: Fire and Ash, which would make it such that the Na'vi have to fight against a different tribe within their own kind. Allying with the RDA would certainly be one way in which the Ash People could antagonize the Metkayina and Omatikaya people, so it would not be shocking if this much came true.

The narration of the concept trailer does really capture the spirit of the Avatar franchise dialogue. The franchise tends to be a thinly-veiled metaphor for the cost of environmental destruction, something partially captured by the sentiment "this battle is for our children" and "for the soul of this planet." The imagined Avatar 3 plot also hints at the power of rebelling and rising up against evil, a theme that has permeated throughout the franchise.

Our Take On The Avatar 3 Concept Trailer

The Ash People Could Create An Interesting Dynamic

This Avatar: Fire and Ash concept trailer is a good reminder of the ways that this third installment could depart from franchise trends. While the plots of the first two movies are not identical, they generally involve the Na'vi people fighting against the RDA, the latter of whom is trying to exploit their resources in some way. If the Ash People are indeed evil, Avatar: Fire and Ash will see a franchise first in pitting the Na'vi in a kind of civil war against their own people, creating a fascinating new dynamic.
