Stardew Valley Regrets Helping Willy When They're Rewarded With The "Most Traumatic Cutscene"
Stardew Valley has quite a few memorable moments that warm fans' hearts and give deeper insight into the lore within the title, but some, such as a horrific sentient mass being brought to the forefront, seem to have traumatized one fan. When players complete the community board request "Juicy Bugs Wanted" for Willy the Fisherman, a very interesting cutscene plays showing the bug meat found, and it is the stuff of nightmares.
In a recent Reddit post by altonbrownfan, one specific cutscene from Stardew Valley appears to have traumatized them, as they believe giving the pink mass eyes and the ability to move was a bit over the top. Completing the request for 100 bug meat for Willy rewards players with the recipe for High-Quality Bobbers, but some wonder if it is worth doing after witnessing the aftermath of the special order.

Fans Mention Several Other Unsettling In-Game Moments
Willy's special order for 100 bug meat is not the easiest of tasks, but it isn't very difficult either. When players first accept the request on the Community Board, the post simply reads, "Hey there, I'm looking for a big wad o' bug guts. The juicier the better... at least that's what the crabs seem to like... 100 pieces should do the trick." Little did anyone know that the results of a "big wad o' bug guts" would be horrific.

Of course, those who weren't petrified by the sight of the abomination had hilarious things to say, including commenter DiceMadeOfCheese who states, "Willy...if I'd known you were going to turn this bug meat into an eldritch abomination, I wouldn't have brought it to you." Other users and Stardew Valley fans brought up other cutscenes that made them slightly uncomfortable, such as when Linus teaches players how to craft Wild Bait. Phunkie_Junkie references this cutscene by saying, "Linus: Come into my tent. I'll teach you how to improve your bait. *squelch squelch squelch*."
Stardew Valley's Bait Creature Would Be At Home In A Few Other Franchises
From "The Thing" To Dungeons & Dragons

While the extremely unsettling bait creature with bones sticking out of it seems a bit out of place in such a cozy title, it might do well in other places according to the comments. User maryjanerain mentions "The Substance", a horror movie that was released earlier this year, and claims that the gelatinous blob resembled something from the film. Others, such as jimmietwotanks26, think that it looks somewhat like the Gibbering Mouther from D&D.
Whatever players compare the extremely creepy and seemingly sentient blob of goo that is supposed to be bug guts to in Stardew Valley, it will always be ranked one of the most traumatic cutscenes by fans. Even though it may not be the most wholesome thing players have seen, small and intricate things such as this keep fans coming back for more, and it shows how much thought ConcernedApe has put into the title --- even when it is a bit on the Lovecraftian side.
