The Boys: 8 Supes Who Are Way More Evil Than Homelander Could Ever Hope to Be

The Boys: 8 Supes Who Are Way More Evil Than Homelander Could Ever Hope to Be

When it comes to evil 'Superman' characters, there's no denying that Homelander is the most famous example floating around. Thanks to the massive success of The Boys, just about everyone knows that Homelander is one of the most evil characters under the Superman archetype. He wasn't a saint in the comics either, but surprisingly, there are tons of Supes in the comic book that are even more evil than Homelander.

In The Boys. Homelander is the primary antagonist facing our heroes, and the comic takes time to explore more characters who threaten the villain. This focus allowed the comic to explore just how evil some Supes were who just didn't get time to shine in the TV series. Some characters such as Stormfront were reworked to fit better into the show while other characters didn't show up at all. While Homelander might be the most evil Supe on the TV show, there are eight characters with superpowers who are even darker than everyone's favorite Anti-Superman.

8 This Supe Was A Dangerous Sexual Predator

You Will Never See Shazam the Same Way

Shazam is one of the kindest and most noble heroes in the DC Universe. A young child by the name of Billy Batson who is capable of taking on the form of an adult with incredible powers when he simply says a magic word. It's a great character idea, and at one point in his history, Shazam was even outselling Superman. But as fantastic as this character idea is, it's also a concept that is very easy to take in a dark direction.

Related So Can We Talk About the Fact That The Boys Casually Confirmed Aliens Are Real? The Boys' universe is ridiculous, but they mostly tried to stay grounded, with no parallel universes or anything, but apparently aliens do exist.

That's exactly what Garth Ennis did with this unnamed Supe. While readers thankfully never get to see it, Butcher comments on his crimes and explains that he'd use his powers to become an adult and then assault anyone he wanted. Clearly lacking the moral compass of Billy Batson, this child was a deeply dangerous sexual predator. While Homelander has certainly assaulted people in the past, it was nowhere near as often as this Supe, who seemed to use his powers explicitly for that purpose.

7 Malchemical Is Far More Sadistic Than Homelander

Not Even Homelander Goes This Far

There's no doubt that Homelander is definitely sadistic, but he's also kind of an idiot. Homelander only really hurts people like a child having a tantrum. He doesn't intentionally make complicated plans to terrorize those around him. He simply uses his superior strength to bully people when he feels the need to. This is contrasted with Malchemical who uses his powers of shapeshifting to torture those around him. After using his powers to sexually exploit a fellow teammate, he was demoted to being the leader of Super-Duper.

This just made Malchemical get even worse. Forced to lead a group of heroes that he considered idiotic and below him, he continued using his powers to sexually abuse them as well as trying to bully them into submission, such as taking on the appearance of one of their worst fears to attack them. While Homelander has always been brutal to those who annoy him, he never went out of his way to attack his teammates just for the fun of it.

6 Lamplighter Was A Maniacal Child Killer

Pro Tip: Avoid Lamplighter at All Costs

While it's true that Homelander killed children, it took several years of him being gaslit by Black Noir to get to that point. Lamplighter, on the other hand, was more than happy to use his powers over fire to murder Mallory's grandchildren. This attack was so brutal that Homelander and the rest of the Seven happily gave Lampighter up, kicking him out of the Seven and turning him over to the CIA. While it was the only way to prevent a full-on war between the CIA and the Seven, it's also likely that this was one crime that the majority of the Seven just couldn't stand behind.

The Seven mostly care about money and sexual gratification. It wasn't until Homelander started losing his mind that he started killing innocent people. With that in mind, it's clear that Lamplighter is one of the first members of the Seven to go after innocents, and to make it even worse, he killed children. This act alone puts him on a level of evil that Homelander took a long time to reach.

5 Oh-Father Committed One Of The Worst Forms Of Evil Possible

Oh-Father Provides a Damning Take on Faith And the Church

There are tons of different types of evil, but abusing children is one of the worst possible things that someone could do. As evil as Homelander is, he never tried to sexually exploit children, in either the TV show or comic. This can't be said for Oh-Father who is a faith-based superhero. He specifically ran a group called Capes for Christ which was just a ploy to draw young and vulnerable sidekicks to him. It was well-known in the superhero community that Oh-Father sexually abused his young sidekicks, which is something Homelander even calls him out on.

Thankfully, Oh-Father met a swift death. After Homelander spoke to him about his plans to take over America, Oh-Father decided to help him and was quickly killed by the American Government during Homelander's attack on the White House. While Oh-Father's exploitation of children was certainly evil, there are a few characters who either did it on a far greater level or did things even more twisted.

4 John Godolkin Is One Of The Most Evil Supes

The Supe Did Not Stop at Brainwashing

John Godolkin was the leader of the G-Men, a group of superheroes separate from Vought-America. While on the surface, the group looked like just a large family of superheroes who wanted to make the world better, the actual nature of them is darker than anyone expected. A twisted version of Marvel's X-Men, John Godolkin was a pedophile who routinely kidnapped children from their families. John would then assault and brainwash them into becoming a member of his family.

Nearly every single member of the G-Men was assaulted at some point, and anyone who dared try to challenge or escape John was killed and reanimated as a zombie servant. There's no denying that Homelander is evil, but he was mostly gaslit and tricked into being the monster that he is, where as John Godolkin was more than happy to create a sex cult full of his victims.

3 Stormfront Was Even Worse In The Comics

Stormfront Is a New Kind of Evil

Stormfront is one of the most disliked characters in The Boys due to the fact he is a Nazi. But the TV show, Stormfront at least had the decent to try and hide it, only bringing up her twisted beliefs when she felt she was in like-minded company. The comic version of Stormfront was a lot more upfront about the fact he was a Nazi. While the TV show changed plenty characters from The Boys, Stormfront perhaps changed the most with several facts like Stormfront being the biological father of Homelander not making it into the show.

Stormfront was the first ever Supe in The Boys universe, and he was often used by Vought to kill scores of people who stood in their way. For Vought, this was a purely business-motivated decision, such as wiping out an Indigenous tribe so that they could drill for oil on their land. Stormfront, on the other hand, happily carried out these orders as he saw it as a means of ethnic cleaning, and it's something he did many times for the company.

2 Butcher Is A Darker Supe Than Most People Know

Don't Let Butcher Fool You

While most people wouldn't think it, Butcher definitely counts as a Supe. Since the start of the comic, he's been injected with Compound-V, and it grants him significant physical strength. While he's in the position of protagonist for the majority of the comic, he's eventually revealed as the comics final antagonist. After killing Homelander, Butcher decides that all Supes on Earth must die and tries to enact a plan that would kill millions. He is not just after Supes but anyone with trace amounts of Compound-V in their system.

This means that millions of innocent people would die from having a small amount of Compound-V in them even if it is not enough to give them powers. To prevent anyone from stopping him from enacting his plan, Butcher kills nearly all of his friends with only Hughie being the final person left to stop him. It's a truly demented plan, and it definitely puts Butcher one level above Homelander. While Homelander intended to take over America, he had no real plans beyond that, whereas Butcher fully intended to kill millions of innocent people.

1 Black Noir Is Guilty Of Everything People Attribute To Homelander

Black Noir Is the Realest Threat, Okay?

Close

Throughout The Boys comic, Homelander is accused of tons of horrible things. Such as killing innocent people, eating babies, and assaulting Butcher's wife. But the final reveal of the comic is the fact Homelander didn't do any of this. It was all Black Noir trying to frame Homelander. Black Noir was a clone of Homelander specifically created to kill Homelander if he ever went insane. Of course, Homelander never did lose it. Sure, Homelander is incompetent, but he he did try to be a hero. Desperate to fulfill his life's purpose, Black Noir would go on to frame Homelander for tons of serious crimes.

While Vought became aware of this, and even believed Homelander was the one doing it, they figured it was just a one-off occurrence and continued to let Homelander act as the leader of the Seven. For as evil as Homelander eventually became, it never would have gotten to that point without Black Noir's influence, making Black Noir the most evil Supe in The Boys universe even above Homelander.
