Tom Cruise's Apocalyptic Movie Post-Mission: Impossible 8 Lands Release Date

Warner Bros. confirms the release date for Tom Cruise's apocalyptic movie after Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning, which will arrive in theaters on May 23, 2025. The upcoming film, produced and directed by the four-time Oscar winner, Alejandro González Iñárritu, is currently untitled. The script was co-written by Inarritu and Birdman writers Nicolas Giacobone and Alexander Dinelaris along with Sabina Berman. Filming reportedly started in the U.K. in November.
Cruise's upcoming untitled apocalyptic movie now has an official release date. The film will arrive on October 2nd, 2026 in IMAX. Cruise and Mary Parent are also credited as producers. Aside from Cruise, the cast includes Sandra Huller (The Anatomy of a Fall), John Goodman (Monsters, Inc.), Michael Stuhlbarg (Men in Black 3), Jesse Plemons (Civil War), Sophie Wilde (Talk to Me), and Riz Ahmed (Venom). The logline follows "the most powerful man in the world" as he embarks on a "frantic mission" to save humanity from being destroyed by a disaster "he's unleashed."
