Marvel Rivals: How To Destroy Deployable Abilities & Protect Your Own

Deployable abilities leave an object on the battlefield in Marvel Rivals. Heroes with such skills include Peni Parker, Groot, Moon Knight, Namor, Rocket Raccoon, and Loki. If ignored, these items can deal tremendous damage, lock down an area, or rapidly heal the enemy. It's important to destroy deployed objects quickly before they become an unstoppable threat. On the other hand, if you're playing one of these summoners, defending your creations is vital.

During the chaotic brawl that is Marvel Rivals, it's much easier to spot enemy abilities than friendly ones. Deployable abilities used by foes tend to be bright red, while those used by allies can be a mix of colors, depending on Marvel Rivals team composition, though usually blue or another non-red shade. Spotting them in mirror matches will be the most obvious, as duplicates will be scattered everywhere. Concentrate on destroying items made by an enemy and erect shields to protect those made by allies.

How To Find & Destroy Enemy Deployed Abilities In Marvel Rivals

Spot Objects From Far Away & Flank Them

The enemy is likely to place their deployable abilities in a key strategic area, mostly around a tight corner or directly on an objective in Marvel Rivals. Offensive abilities, including Moon Knight’s Ancient Ankh and Peni Parker’s Bionic Spider-Nest, devastate melee characters such as Wolverine and Black Panther. It is mainly the job of ranged snipers like Black Widow and Hela to spot a deployed object and shoot it before close-range fighters move in.

Moon Knight’s Ancient Ankh - Disruptive Surprises

Moon Knight can rip through groups of enemies by setting up one or two Ancient Ankhs. Initially, the spell launches and then pulls in foes. However, the real menace occurs if the Ankhs are left out, as Moon Knight can bounce both Crescent Darts and Moon Blades off either Ankh, dealing repeated damage to numerous foes. If placed correctly, it will shred through anyone with 250 health, making it the bane of the best Strategists in Marvel Rivals.

Namor’s Aquatic Dominion - Dual Turrets

Namor can summon up to two Monstro Spawn that can fire from 40 meters away. This makes them very dangerous even for ranged characters in Marvel Rivals, like the Punisher and Winter Soldier. Normally, the Monstros just attack the closest target, but if Namor lands Trident of Neptune they will hyper-focus on that foe.

The one saving grace is that any Monstro will despawn after eight seconds. However, waiting this out can be costly. Stick to counter-sniping them quickly before going directly for Namor.

Peni Parker’s Bionic Spider-Nest - An Instant Death Trap

Peni Parker can completely shut down a small patch of any Marvel Rivals map, including domination objectives. Up to 10 drones will come out of the nest, dealing 40 damage each for a possible total of 400. Additionally, Peni can hide Arachno-Mines in the webs, dealing upwards of another 1,000 damage - enough to kill most Vanguards.

Related Who are your Marvel Rivals big three (one for each class)? I have three mains in Marvel Rivals at the moment, one for each class. For Duelists, I have Moon Knight who has gameplay mechanics that I absolutely love (especially for clearing enemy choke points). For Strategists, I've found that I do a pretty good job with Loki, and for Vanguards, I'm a big fan of Captain America or Thor (though I need to get better with both).

Groot’s Walls - Massive Distractions

Groot can use two types of walls in Marvel Rivals: Thornlash, which deals damage, and Ironwood, which heals. They only activate when Groot is close by, making them useful when he is already distracted or surrounded. Most importantly, hitting either wall triggers character-specific hit effects, making walls an ideal target for Mantis and Iron Fist to reduce cooldowns.

Rocket Raccoon’s BRB & CYA - Performance Boosters

Unlike the other deployed items in Marvel Rivals, those yielded by Rocket Raccoon are major buffs for the team. BRB spits out Armor Packs that give an additional 25 health. It can also fully revive allies up to 50 meters away. Rocket’s Ultimate, CYA, is even scarier. It gives everyone on the team within 20 meters a 40% damage boost for 12 seconds. As a sniper, make the CYA your primary goal.

Loki’s Doppelgangers - Healing On Command

Loki can create two clones of himself with either Deception or Doppelganger. He can also move between the copies with Devious Exchange. The clones don’t deal much damage or heal on their own in Marvel Rivals. The real issue is that all three Lokis can use Regeneration Domain simultaneously. This means they can create a huge total amount of healing and near invincibility for five seconds.

Where To Hide & Defend Your Own Deployables

The Enemy Can’t Attack Something They Can’t See

As higher-ranked Marvel Rivals players will be on the hunt for deployed items, you must be sneaky as a summoner. Make sure to use these abilities near unexpected sharp turns, on top of an upper ledge, or even directly behind enemy lines. If the opposition has no idea where to look, they won’t be prepared to defend themselves.

Enemies also need a line of sight to even hit a deployed ability. In dire situations, consider standing in front of your creation and body blocking it. If you have a friendly Magneto or Dr. Strange on the team, ask them to guard your objects.

Just because most deployed items are stationary, doesn’t make them purely defensive in Marvel Rivals. You can still use many of these moves while pushing a convoy and can place some deployable abilities on a moving objective. If an object is at maximum health, you can even manually detonate it for a shorter cooldown and quick repositioning.
