Fortunately, the delay to a spring release didn't dull the show's overwhelming popularity, and the network was quick to order more episodes. Though no official reason was given, the renewal order comes on the heels of amazing ratings for The Rookie season 6 and was the most likely catalyst for its continuation.

Season 6, episode 1, of The Rookie earned nearly 12 million viewers across multiple platforms in the five weeks following its debut.
