Father of boy who murdered Brianna Ghey jailed for sex offences

The father of the boy who murdered Brianna Ghey has been jailed for 15 months.

Kyle Ratcliffe, 36, had admitted two counts of exposure and one count of taking an indecent photo of a child.

He is the father of 16-year-old Eddie Ratcliffe, who was jailed for at least 20 years after the "horrific" attack on Brianna.

Manchester Crown Court heard that Ratcliffe exposed himself to two 16-year-old girls at a bus stop shortly before his son went on trial.

He also took an indecent photo of a child by covertly recording video of her in a changing room in August last year.

The court heard he has previous convictions for similar offences.

Sentencing Ratcliffe, judge John Potter, said the prosecution and conviction of his son for murder was not "in any way" mitigation for the offending.

"This is not the first time in your life you have harmed others in this way," he said.

"The offences on this indictment coupled with your previous convictions make it quite clear that you have a sexual attraction towards female children and teenagers whom you objectivise for the purpose of you own sexual gratification.

"This, Mr Ratcliffe, has potential to cause very serious harm and portrays you, in my judgment, as currently presenting a significant risk to such individuals."

Eddie Ratcliffe and Scarlett Jenkinson were aged 15 when they carried out their "disturbing" plan to murder Brianna in a "frenzied and ferocious" attack with a hunting knife.

The pair will be transferred to adult prisons when they turn 18.
