Mamata Banerjee suffers head injuries, admitted to hospital

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on March 14 suffered head injuries during a fall at her residence in Kolkata.

Ms. Mamata Banerjee was taken to state-run SSKM Hospital in Kolkata where she is undergoing treatment.

“Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers,” Trinamool Congress posted on ‘X’ posting photographs on the injured Chief Minister. Ms. Banerjee suffered injuries on her forehead and had to be administered stitches. She was wheeled to nearby Bangur Institute of Neuroscienes for a CT scan.

Earlier in the day, the Trinamool Congress chairperson participated in an event in South Kolkata. Over the past few days Ms. Mamata Banerjee has been campaigning for her party candidates for the Lok Sabha polls. There was widespread concern across the State relating to the injuries sustained by the Chief Minister. Trinamool general secretary Abhishek Banerjee was seen at the health facility along with other party leaders.

Family members of the Chief Minister said that she was out of danger. Hundreds of people had gathered at the hospital to inquire about her. Leaders across political lines wished her a speedy recovery.
