Dannielle Merrifield and Garrick Merrifield are the best thing about Seeking Sister Wife, and the couple should have their own show. The unscripted TLC series premiered in 2018, and season 5 is currently airing. Audiences were first introduced to the Merrifields during Seeking Sister Wife season 3, when the parents of two teen sons decided to transition their 13-year marriage from monogamy to polygamy. They returned for season 4, during which they courted Roberta Pache, a Brazilian woman who spoke no English.

The relationship with Roberta didn't work out, so Garrick and Dannielle returned for Seeking Sister Wife season 5, during which the middle-aged Garrick and Dannielle dated 25-year-old Nathalia, another Brazilian woman who spoke little English. Garrick proposed to Nathalia, who said yes. Garrick traveled to Brazil for the wedding, but the Brazilian government denied their marriage license after discovering that Garrick was a polygamist. Things got even more complicated when Garrick's long-suffering wife, Dannielle Merrifield, got pregnant. As the season draws to a close, the Merrifields are the most interesting family, and deserve their own show.

When the Merrifields made their television debut in Seeking Sister Wife season 3, they were dating potential second wife Roberta Pache, and the relationship continued during season 4. Roberta lived in Brazil, spoke no English, and could only communicate with the Merrifields via translation apps. Despite all that, Garrick ended his 13-year marriage to Dannielle so he could legally marry Roberta for immigration purposes. Roberta never ended up immigrating to the United States, so that decision was pointless.

At the end of Seeking Sister Wife season 4, Roberta broke up with the Merrifields via text. That happened after she took thousands of dollars from them.

After their experience with Roberta, 35-year-old Dannielle was less enthusiastic about searching for a new sister wife, but 40-year-old Garrick pushed ahead at full speed. He went online and almost immediately met another Brazilian woman who spoke barely any English. Unlike the age-appropriate Roberta, Nathalia was almost 15 years his junior. Despite Dannielle's overt discomfort with the relationship, Garrick and Nathalia got engaged.

Before appearing on a reality TV show, Garrick and Dannielle were married for 13 years - they were in a monogamous relationship, and have two children together: Geremiah and Solomon Merrifield. The couple's decision to transition from monogamy to polygamy stemmed from Garrick's unusual interpretation of the Bible. Garrick and Dannielle are not Mormon, they are Christians, and Garrick was inspired by the Bible to open his marriage to a second wife. Garrick cited God's embrace of people in the Bible who had plural marriages as part of his motivation to become a polygamist.

During the Seeking Sister Wife season 5 premiere, Garrick explains how scriptures led him to plural marriage. This is comedy gold and it deserves its own show.

It's Never Enough For Garrick

While dating 33-year-old Roberta Pache, the Merrifields started dating another woman, 30-year-old Lea Newton, who even stayed with the Seeking Sister Wife stars for a while. It was ironically Roberta, not Dannielle, who was more jealous of Garrick's relationship with Lea. Adding Lea to the mix may not have been the reason Roberta broke up with the Merrifields, but it didn't help matters.

Ultimately, the relationship with Lauren was short-lived, and the Merrifields entered into a serious relationship with Nathalia. Not satisfied with his women, Garrick also started dating Miriam, a young Muslim woman from Michigan. Unlike some of Garrick's past love interests, Miriam speaks English. Since Miriam was introduced at the end of Seeking Sister Wife season 5, episode 11, it's hard to say how Nathalia will react.

Audiences would absolutely watch a weekly hour-long series about Garrick and Dannielle's dramas.

Though Garrick was planning to get Nathalia pregnant, it was his wife, Dannielle, who broke the news of her pregnancy to her shocked husband during an online video chat. Garrick had been in Brazil with Nathalia for six weeks, and he had barely spoken to Danielle since he had left. The initial plan was for Dannielle to travel to Brazil with Garrick, but the two weren't in a good place, so they decided that Garrick would go alone. Just as it looked like Garrick and Dannielle's 16-year relationship was on the rocks, the Merrifields were pregnant with their third child.

After the episode aired, TLC posted adorable photos of the Merrifields and their baby on Instagram in April 2024. The post's caption read, in part, "A baby surprise." According to People, Garrick and Dannielle's adorable baby daughter, Leia Lilly Melisa Merrifield, was born on May 17, 2023. Due to the season not being aired yet, the couple had to keep their baby a secret from the public for almost a year. There is plenty of material here for an entire series.

One of the last aired episodes of Seeking Sister Wife season 5 ended with Garrick's marriage to Nathalia being denied by a Brazilian judge, and it's unclear if Garrick's relationship with Nathalia continued. Regardless of Garrick and Nathalia's relationship, he's unlikely to stop looking for new wives and making Dannielle miserable. In an interview with producers during Seeking Sister Wife season 5, Garrick says, "I really feel like God promised our family, uh, more than just Dannielle."

Garrick went on to add, "I mean, I had a vision years ago that I had five wives, and they were good."

Garrick appears determined to continue down the path of polygamy, and there should be an entire show dedicated to his search.
