However, the rival faction led by Sharad Pawar will be recognized as 'NCP- Sharadchandra Pawar' by the Election Commission.

PUNE: Disgruntled leaders of Mahayuti alliance who have lost out in the nomination race are flocking to veteran leader Sharad Pawar to explore opportunities for a Lok Sabha ticket from the MVA camp.On Wednesday, Beed district ’s NCP leader Bajrang Sonawane , who had sided with Ajit Pawar during the party’s split, joined NCP(SCP) at an event in Pune. With BJP fielding Pankaja Munde from Beed, an upset Sonawane switched sides, keeping his hopes alive.Pawar said his party will hold discussions before finalising the Beed candidate. “Voting for the seat is in the fourth phase and there is still some time to make a decision. The party’s committee will decide the candidate and Sonawane has said he will accept the decision. He lost the last election by a narrow margin, but has agreed to work towards strengthening the party in Beed,” he said Wednesday.Sonawane had contested as an NCP candidate against BJP’s Pritam Munde in 2019. “I lost, but I had polled over five lakh votes. Recently, my workers had begun to feel they were not getting the same respect (after the split), and therefore, I decided to join Pawar Saheb,” he said.Founder of Rashtriya Samaj Paksha, Mahadev Jankar , also visited Pawar’s residence in Pune on Wednesday morning. He had contested the last Lok Sabha election against Pawar’s daughter Supriya Sule from Baramati in 2019, but is interested in the Madha seat as an MVA candidate against BJP’s Ranjeetsingh Naik Nimbalkar. He claimed Pawar senior had assured him of “a positive call”.Earlier, Parner MLA Nilesh Lanke had come to Pune with a large group of supporters to meet Pawar, after BJP nominated Sujay Vikhe Patil as Mahayuti candidate from Ahmednagar.NCP(SCP) state chief Jayant Patil said, “There is power and money on one side but we have the people’s power with us, hence many leaders are now joining us.”BJP leader Vijaysinh Mohite Patil, who is keen on the Madha seat, is also exploring his options on joining Pawar’s camp. Jyoti Mete, wife of Shiv Sangram Party founder late Vinayak Mete, who is a contender for the Beed seat, had met the NCP(SCP) chief, too.
