During The Masked Singer season 11 Billy Joel Night, Poodle Moth sang "Just the Way You Are." She began her clue package by staring at the full moon in the night sky and saying, "If you're like me, you're probably wondering what a poodle moth is. And would you believe only one has ever been found in the world? Luckily, getting discovered once is all you need."

Poodle Moth continued walking in a tree-lined plaza saying, "For my entire life, I was drawn to the flame." At that point a streetlamp lit up as she passed it, and she stopped to look at it. She said, "But I always felt like the bright lights were never meant for me." Poodle Moth then reached into a tree and pulled a cowboy hat from its leaves and looked at it.

Poodle Moth went on to say, "I told myself I was never going to be pretty enough or funny enough or talented enough to actually make it. So, I took a step back and helped others achieve their dreams. And, while I loved that, I desperately wanted to spread my own wings." She picked up a book with a wavy American flag on the cover off of a bench, and read it.

The Masked Singer season 11 contestant said, "But, if I could just take that first step, the light I thought was so impossible to find would be one step closer. So, I took the leap, and I was discovered." As many lanterns lit up and rose to the sky, one of them had a red moth on it. Poodle Moth said, "It showed me that I am one of a kind. And, like Billy says, you're perfect just the way you are."

After Poodle Moth's performance, another clue was revealed about her. As "Big Shot" by Billy Joel played, the Men in Black played baseball. One pitched a baseball, while another hit it to the panelists. The baseball had "OPRY" printed on it in black writing. Poodle Moth explained, "I felt like a big shot when I performed at the Grand Ole Opry."

On The Masked Singer season 11 TV Theme Night, Poodle Moth sang "Unwritten" by Natasha Bedingfield, the theme song from The Hills. Poodle Moth's clue package began with a recap of her Billy Joel Night performance. She admitted, "I was pretty scared to do that last performance. It's not always easy to put myself out there."

The scene then changed to a stone house with a lighthouse with its light on. Poodle Moth shared, "In my life, I was raised to know one thing: sometimes the ones you love the most leave, without so much as a letter." Poodle Moth then began to write a letter. She continued, "My dad left a hole in my heart that I never have filled. I'd send him letters that were always 'return to sender,' with each return stamp breaking my heart." A pile of letters to her dad marked "return to sender" was then shown, along with a postcard of a painted kitten with flowers with a kitten stamp.

A framed photograph of comedy and tragedy masks and an old-fashioned telephone were then shown. Poodle went on to say, "If that one person who's only job is to love you won't, then who will?" Poodle Moth continued writing, saying, "Until, one day, I decided to write a letter to myself. I needed to realize I was capable of being loved the way that I deserved." She then wrote, "You are enough," on a piece of paper.

Poodle Moth then pushed the returned letters off of the desk, which also had a quill pen and a model ship on it. She went on to say, "I've learned to use my talents to help other kids who are looking for their answers, just like I was." She then picked up a jar of fireflies. Poodle Moth concluded by saying, "I'm writing my own story, and tonight I have chosen a TV theme song that reminds me of the beauty of what's still to come. Because there's still so much unwritten." As she said this, she released the fireflies from the jar, and they flew up to the sky.

After Poodle Moth's performance, another clue was given about her identity. Heidi and Spencer Pratt from The Hills presented the clue. Heidi said that Poodle Moth sang the theme song to their show, which was all about Hollywood It-girls. She then mentioned another show about famous girls, Gilmore Girls. The choir that had accompanied Poodle Moth during her performance then sang part of "Where You Lead," the theme song from Gilmore Girls. Poodle Moth explained, "I have a very special connection to Gilmore Girls that hits very close to home."

Poodle Moth's Shower Anthems Night Performances & Clues

The Masked Singer season 11 Shower Anthems Night began with the Group C finalists, Poodle Moth, Clock, and Lizard, singing "Shower" by Becky G. Poodle Moth later sang a heartfelt version of "The House That Built Me" by Miranda Lambert. Poodle Moth's clue package began with her sitting in a bathtub. She said, "Being here as this cuddle bug has really let me spread my wings."

When asked what singing in the shower does for her, Poodle Moth replied, "Music has always been my therapy. And while some people sing pop hits in the shower for fun, I use it as a time of total emotional release. And I let the tears fall while I sing." Poodle Moth then sat down in a chair, saying, "Like when my family sold our childhood home. That house was filled with some pretty tumultuous memories." She opened a book to two facing pages that had some writing and a painting of a house with a giant number 3 on a flag on a post in front of it.

The title of the book, An Extraordinary Moth, was then shown. Poodle Moth continued, "Growing up was tough. There was so much sadness within those walls. I dreamed of leaving it. Yet, when it came time to clear out the kitchen, repaint the hallway, I couldn't help but feel like a part of me was gone." The other page of the book was then shown, which said, "Once upon a time, There was a beautiful Poodle Moth who lived on a beautiful street...," as the painting of the house disappeared on the facing page.

Poodle Moth then picked up a frond from a plant and waved it as she said, "But, that was the house that built me. For better or worse. Living there taught me resilience, and now I try to lock the doors on the negative memories, and open windows to positivity." Poodle Moth was then shown getting ready for her Shower Anthems Night performance as she concluded with, "And, thanks to a few good shower cries, I know I can push through to begin each day confident and free."

After Poodle Moth's Shower Anthems Night performance, another clue about her identity was revealed, which was the Masked Singer cast member to whom she had a connection. Nick retrieved a bar of soap on a rope from a shower which said, "Robin." Poodle Moth explained, "Well, Robin, working with your dad (I'm gonna cry) is part of one of the biggest moments of my career and my life."

Later in the episode, Clock went head-to-head with Poodle Moth in the Battle Royale, after Lizard was unmasked and revealed to be Sisqó. They both sang lively versions of "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Clock became the Group C champion and made it through to the semi-finals, which meant that Poodle Mask would be unmasked. However, Rita rang the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell, and Poodle Moth also advanced to the semi-finals, concealing her true identity.

Poodle Moth’s Identity Predictions

Close

The Masked Singer season 11 panelists had many great guesses for Poodle Moth's identity. Robin and Rita used the Grand Ole Opry clue to guess two legendary country singers. Robin thought that Poodle Moth might be Trisha Yearwood, while Rita guessed Wynonna Judd. However, Ken went in a completely different direction and declared that Poodle Moth was Rita Wilson, although the other panelists didn't agree with his guess.

On TV Theme Night, Ken changed his guess to Melissa McCarthy. Melissa is Jenny's cousin, and, although she liked the guess, she didn't think Ken was right. She chose Lauren Graham. Robin agreed that Poodle Moth was most likely an actress, and guessed Connie Britton.

During Shower Anthems Night, Rita changed her mind from thinking that Poodle Moth was a country singer to an actress. She used the connection to Robin's dad, late actor Alan Thicke, to guess Sharon Stone. Robin thought that could be a good guess, but Ken came up with Brooke Shields.

Robin took some time to think, and thought that Poodle Moth might be Shania Twain because she'd stayed at Alan's house while she was trying to get a record deal. Although they saved her with the Ding Dong Keep It On Bell, the panelists had made their final guesses when they thought she'd be unmasked. They guessed Shania Twain, Mandy Moore, Brooke Shields, and Sharon Stone.

Although The Masked Singer panelists made some intelligent guesses, the clues actually point in the direction of a different person: This Is Us actress and singer Chrissy Metz. Jenny was closest to the correct answer with her guess of Mandy Moore, who played Chrissy's mother on This Is Us. When Chrissy was eight years old, her father left the family. Her mother later married Chrissy's stepfather, whom Chrissy described as verbally and physically abusive in her memoir This Is Me: Loving the Person You Are Today.

Many of the other clues prove that Poodle Moth is Chrissy. The cowboy hat and Grand Ole Opry clues are nods to the fact that Chrissy has sung at the Grand Ole Opry. Chrissy worked as a preschool teacher and an agent before becoming an actress, which would explain the reference to her helping others achieve their dreams. The book with the American flag on the front of it referred to her role in American Horror Story: Freak Show.

There were also three important This Is Us references. The Gilmore Girls connection clue referred to Chrissy having starred with Gilmore Girls star Milo Ventimiglia on This Is Us, in which he played her father. The large number 3 in front of the house was a reference to This Is Us because Chrissy's character Kate and her siblings, Kevin and Randall, were called The Big 3 on the show. In addition, their house was very important because their father died due to a fire there on the show. The final This Is Us clue was the fact that Poodle Moth said that she worked with Alan Thicke. Alan played himself in the pilot episode of This Is Us.

Poodle Moth dazzled everyone with her beautiful performances and moved on to the next round, which is the semi-finals. She'll definitely go far in the competition. Poodle Moth will fly to the top of The Masked Singer season 11.

The Masked Singer season 11 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on FOX.
