Warning! This post contains SPOILERS for The Bad Batch season 3.Star Wars has confirmed that former Sith apprentice Asajj Ventress will return following Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3, and these 10 possibilities are the most exciting ways for her story to continue. The Bad Batch season 3 has been full of surprises, but one of the biggest twists was the return of Asajj Ventress. Ventress was last seen on screen 10 years ago in Star Wars: The Clone Wars working as a bounty hunter. Now, in The Bad Batch, she's returned, mysteriously wielding a yellow lightsaber.

However, Star Wars has excitingly confirmed that Ventress' story will continue. The Bad Batch's head writer Jennifer Corbett teased "future content" that will explore Ventress' tale, and Nika Futterman - Ventress' voice actor - has backed this up. “I think we're going to find out a lot of things about a lot of things," she teased, "and I think we're going to have all kinds of fun adventures.” This means that the door is truly wide open for Asajj Ventress' Star Wars future, and these 10 possible story arcs are among the most exciting options.

10 Asajj Ventress Can Serve As A Bounty Hunter During The Dark Times

Asajj Was Last Seen As A Bounty Hunter In The Clone Wars

When Asajj Ventress was last seen on-screen, she was working as a bounty hunter in The Clone Wars. At that point in her story, she had already been both a Jedi Padawan and a Sith apprentice, so it made sense for her to settle into a more neutral role where she was reliant on no one but herself. While The Bad Batch season 3 hasn't quite indicated what she has been doing since she was last seen, it's more than likely she is still working as a bounty hunter.

However, this does raise interesting questions about who Ventress would be working for and which side she would be on if her story continues with her working as a bounty hunter throughout the Dark Times or the Imperial Era. In The Bad Batch, she certainly doesn't seem to be on the side of the Empire given her willingness to assist Omega and the clones. However, bounty hunters are notorious for being willing to work both sides, which would be fitting for Ventress.

9 Asajj Ventress & Quinlan Vos Can Be Founders Of The Hidden Path

Obi-Wan Kenobi Already Showed That Quinlan Vos Was Helping The Rebels

Close

The Obi-Wan Kenobi show has already proven that Jedi Quinlan Vos is not only one of the survivors of Order 66 but is also assisting the Rebels with their underground operations. This is particularly exciting in the case of Ventress because the two have a fascinating history in Star Wars canon. In the novel Dark Disciple, written by Christie Golden, Quinlan Vos and Asajj Ventress team up to assassinate Count Dooku at the Jedi Council's behest. During their mission, the two develop romantic feelings for one another.

Bringing Quinlan Vos into Ventress' next story would also be an intriguing angle for Star Wars to take because Ventress died in Dark Disciple to save Vos' life (meaning she has also been resurrected). Such a story could explain exactly how that took place. Vos is known to have been associated with the Hidden Path, a secret railroad that helped hide Force-sensitives from the Empire. It's entirely possible Ventress and Vos founded this together.

8 Asajj Ventress' Knowledge Can Help The Early Rebellion Prepare

Asajj Ventress Was Very Familiar With War And The Dark Side

If Ventress isn't directly involved with the Hidden Path or concealing Force-sensitive people from the Empire, she could nevertheless be assisting the Rebels. While this might not necessarily mean her intersecting with Star Wars' more prominent Rebels, such as the cast of Star Wars Rebels or Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, and Han Solo, Ventress would still be a great asset to the Rebellion. In fact, Ventress' background makes her a perfect fit for this role.

Ventress would be a great asset to the Rebellion.

It's unclear how much Ventress has figured out about Darth Vader and Palpatine, but she nevertheless has experience with fighting a war and with the dark side of the Force. As Count Dooku's previous apprentice, Ventress was very familiar with the Separatist side of the Clone Wars. She could certainly use that context to aid the Rebels in undermining the Empire. Moreover, her willingness to use the light or dark side would surely be of help.

7 Asajj Ventress Can Train Omega In The Ways Of The Force

Star Wars: The Bad Batch Has Already Shown Asajj Ventress' Interest In Omega

Close

The Bad Batch season 3 has already offered incredible developments, two of the most prominent pertaining to Omega and Ventress. As mentioned, Asajj Ventress canonically died in Dark Disciple, meaning that her sudden and surprising return in The Bad Batch signals a mysterious resurrection. Omega has had an equally fascinating Bad Batch season 3 arc, however. After being captured by the Empire in The Bad Batch season 2 ending, Omega was experimented upon in relation to Emperor Palpatine's Project Necromancer cloning project.

The experiments, meant to create Force-sensitive clones, were performed by manipulating M-counts (midi-chlorian counts) in clones. Omega was the first confirmed clone to successfully take to the experiments. While that doesn't necessarily guarantee that she has the Force, signs currently point to some level of Force sensitivity. In fact, in The Bad Batch season 3, this led to Ventress acting as a sort of mentor to her. As Ventress has already expressed a clear compassion for and interest in Omega, a story about Ventress formally training Omega would be incredible.

6 Asajj Ventress Can Fight Alongside Fellow Bounty Hunter Din Djarin

Din Djarin And Asajj Ventress May Have Already Crossed Paths

Close

As a bounty hunter, Ventress may also have already bumped into another beloved Star Wars character. Din Djarin of The Mandalorian was working as a bounty hunter for some time before the TV show is set—as that's how he found Grogu in the first place—and bounty hunters certainly cross paths. While a Ventress story intersecting with Din Djarin might not take place around the time of The Mandalorian, it would be just as interesting to see what Din Djarin was doing prior to becoming Grogu's guardian.

This would also position Ventress to play an interesting role in the upcoming live-action movies and TV shows focusing on the New Republic, including Ahsoka season 2 and The Mandalorian & Grogu movie. Likely in part because of their powers, the Nightsisters can live remarkably long lives, some reaching hundreds of years old. Ventress could still be an active participant in the events of the galaxy during those respective Star Wars projects. There's also no reason Ventress couldn't begin popping up in multiple stories, so a connection with Din Djarin in one show could lead to Ventress reappearing in another.

5 Asajj Ventress Can Discover Darth Vader's True Identity

Asajj Ventress Was Very Familiar With Anakin Skywalker

Close

Ventress and Anakin Skywalker go way back, not in a good way. Beginning in The Clone Wars, Asajj Ventress were highly antagonistic to one another. This made sense given that Anakin and Ventress were fighting on opposite sides of the Clone Wars and Ventress was a Sith apprentice. However, that would make a storyline about Ventress uncovering Darth Vader's true identity absolutely fascinating. Ventress' reaction to this news would no doubt be shock; however, Ventress is also uniquely positioned to realize the darkness Anakin had within him all along.

Ventress is uniquely positioned to realize the darkness Anakin had within him all along.

When Ventress helped Ahsoka when she was being falsely accused of murder, Anakin became highly suspicious that it was a plot by Ventress. To extract information from her, Anakin Force chokes her. This is exclusively a move by dark side Force-users, meaning that Ventress was well aware that Anakin occasionally tapped into the dark. While Ventress may therefore be surprised at first, seeing her process this information in an upcoming show would be fascinating. In a dream scenario, this could even lead to a Ventress and Vader encounter where she calls him Skywalker.

4 Asajj Ventress Can Help The Remaining Nightsisters In The Imperial Era

Few Nightsisters Survived General Grievous' Slaughter

Close

In The Clone Wars, Ventress suffered the unimaginable tragedy of the loss of almost all the Nightsisters of Dathomir. At Count Dooku's command, General Grievous carried out a slaughter, brutally killing off most of Ventress' sisters. However, a few Nightsisters did remain. Ventress would no doubt be sentimental about the survivors and want to ensure that they were safe. Given that, it's very possible that an upcoming Ventress project could explore her efforts to help Nightsister survivors during the Imperial Era.

It would also make sense for the Dark Times to be a particularly fraught time for the Nightsisters. Both Palpatine and Anakin were aware of the Nightsisters and their abilities, and those powers would certainly be something both sought. Like other Force-sensitive people, this would have put the Nightsisters in grave danger. It's also clear in the Ahsoka show that some Nightsisters survived the Empire as well, and Ventress may very well have had a hand in that.

3 Asajj Ventress Can Protect Force-Sensitive Children From Inquisitors

Asajj Ventress Has Always Had A Soft Spot For Children

Close

Likely because of her traumatic history of losing her Jedi master at a very young age, Ventress has always shown a soft spot for children. In light of that, it would make sense for her to want to protect Force-sensitive children during the Imperial Era. If that doesn't mean establishing or helping with the Hidden Path, it could mean more directly blocking the Imperial Inquisitors from hunting down and killing Force-sensitive children.

With Ventress' background as a bounty hunter and her aptitude with the dark side of the Force, Ventress would also be particularly suited to this kind of work. This would also further explore her adjacency to the light side of the Force, which Star Wars has already indicated she is slightly more drawn to. While not every character needs a redemption arc, and Ventress certainly doesn't have to become a Jedi, this would be a compelling story to explore.

2 Asajj Ventress Can Use Her Nightsister Background To Help Stop Thrawn

The Nightsisters Are Crucial In Thrawn's Plan

Close

Grand Admiral Thrawn Created By Timothy Zahn Cast Lars Mikkelsen First Appearance Star Wars: Heir to the Empire Alliance Chiss, Empire

Set during a different part of the Star Wars timeline, some years after the Empire's defeat, Ahsoka saw the Imperial warlord Grand Admiral Thrawn return to the galaxy with more Nightsisters. Thrawn needed the assistance of the Nightsisters to accomplish this goal, which means that they also have a unique awareness of his plans and his abilities. Ventress could use her connection to the Nightsisters and her knowledge of their own powers to help the New Republic in this inevitable fight against Thrawn.

Ventress could use her connection to the Nightsisters and her knowledge of their own powers to help the New Republic in this inevitable fight against Thrawn.

Of course, this would require Ventress to work against her sisters, which she may be unwilling to do. While she toes the line with the light side of the Force, she undoubtedly remains loyal to the Nightsisters, particularly in light of her terrible losses. Even so, as Ventress potentially aligns herself more with the Rebels, this path would make sense. It would also likely mean a reconnection between Ventress and Ahsoka, which would be fascinating to see.

1 Asajj Ventress' Resurrection Story Can Help Bring Back Others From The Dead

Star Wars Has Confirmed That Asajj Ventress' Resurrection Will Be Explained

Close

Ventress' resurrection in The Bad Batch went unexplained other than a joke by Ventress about having multiple lives. However, Star Wars confirmed that an explanation is coming. This is an interesting move from a franchise that often conceals future plans, but it suggests that this resurrection will play a role in the yet undisclosed future Ventress project. Given that it suggests an ability to return from the dead, this could also be used as a means to bring back others—something Star Wars loves to do. While a Ben Solo return may be wishful thinking, that is certainly one possibility.

No matter the project, however, Ventress' next appearance is sure to be an exciting one. Ventress has become an extremely beloved Star Wars character in part because her complex, nuanced history and perspective have humanized her. While her next project remains undefined, Asajj Ventress' Star Wars return following Star Wars: The Bad Batch season 3 has been confirmed, solidifying a promising future for this fan-favorite character.
