Genshin Impact 4.5: Should You Pull For Neuvillette Or Kazuha?
Summary Neuvillette & Kazuha are rerun characters in Genshin Impact 4.5, each with their own unique gameplay mechanics.
Neuvillette is a Hydro DPS with a life-draining mechanic, while Kazuha is a versatile Anemo support.
Players must choose between Neuvillette & Kazuha based on their team needs, as both are top-tier characters
Making an informed decision when pulling for Neuvillette or Kazuha in Genshin Impact 4.5 can spare players a lot of Primogems, especially if they are already geared up to reach their pity soon. Neuvillette and Kazuha are both rerun characters and not actual debuting units, like Chiori in Genshin Impact. Neuvillette made his debut as a playable character in Version 4.1, shortly after the release of Fontaine in 2023. Kazuha, on the other hand, first arrived years ago, back in Version 1.6, which was added to the action RPG right before the release of Inazuma in Version 2.0.
The two characters are significantly different from one another, though both are considered top-tier units for the jobs they perform on the battlefield. Neuvillette is a Hydro DPS with a unique mechanic that drains his life, while Kazuha is a support unit capable of buffing his teammates’ Elemental DMG, aside from triggering Swirl and rounding up enemies. Because of how good they are, combined with the limitations around free Primogems in Genshin Impact, players may have to make a cruel decision of pulling for Neuvillette or Kazuha instead of obtaining both in the same patch.

Neuvillette & Kazuha’s Availability In Genshin Impact 4.5
Both Neuvillette and Kazuha compose the 5-star characters featured in the Phase 2 banners of Genshin Impact 4.5. Phase 2 starts on April 3 (late April 2, depending on the region) and is expected to last until April 24 (April 23, depending on the region), when Version 4.6 should arrive. Of course, this estimation is made based on the game’s regular six-week schedule for every patch and considering that there will be no delays in the upcoming content. If nothing out of the ordinary occurs, Neuvillette and Kazuha will be available in the banners from April 3 to April 24.
Pros & Cons Of Pulling For Neuvillette In Genshin Impact
Close
As was previously mentioned, Neuvillette is a Hydro DPS character in Genshin Impact. As a catalyst wielder, he is capable of dealing Hydro DMG with his Normal and Charged Attacks rather than having to rely solely on his Skill’s cooldown or his Elemental Burst’s Energy Restoration. This, in turn, allows him to more easily trigger Elemental Reactions against opponents. In fact, his whole gameplay kit revolves around the usage of his Charged Attack, which triggers a unique and very powerful Hydro cannon animation that can drain enemies’ HP bars. This magnitude of strength, however, comes at a price.

Neuvillette has a health-drain mechanic, which sees his HP decrease as he deals damage with his notably strong Charged Attack. The whole concept of his on-field presence is using that very move to eliminate enemies, but it costs him his life. This brings in a few subsequent factors. The first is that players can take further advantage of that HP loss and build him with that in mind, equipping him with the Marechaussee Hunter Artifact set in Genshin Impact, for instance.
With the four-piece bonus, extra gameplay effects activate when the user’s HP fluctuates. This, however, means that his build needs to be airtight. In fact, Neuvillette only really performs well if his build is solid, otherwise he is just another Hydro DPS that has no competition. If players falter when building him, they will have wasted their Primogems.
The other detail players need to be wary about is that Neuvillette needs a reliable healer in his team comp. While he can mostly operate alone in terms of damage output when properly built (though a sub-DPS of a different element is recommended), the Hydro Dragon does need someone to help him survive battles.
Neuvillette’s Charged Attack can drain his HP significantly, so a strong healer like Bennett or Furina needs to be in play to ensure he can use his strongest attack without putting himself at too much risk. A shielder like Zhongli in Genshin Impact could also work, though that would only protect him from incoming damage from enemies.
It is worth noting that Neuvillette has a self-healing mechanic, so a healer can actually be dispensed, as long as players use at least a shielder.
Pros & Cons Of Pulling For Kazuha In Genshin Impact
Kazuha, on the other hand, is a 5-star Anemo support unit. He can be employed as a main DPS, but only after his complete Constellation activation. Before that, he operates as an Elemental Reaction enabler capable of Swirling elements into a field, which is then applied on opponents, facilitating subsequent triggers. Kazuha is also well-known for the Elemental DMG Boost he provides teammates, making him one of the most used units in Genshin Impact team comps that rely heavily on Elemental Reactions.
Despite being an Anemo character, he is not locked into the task of supporting Anemo DPS units exclusively. In fact, it is encouraged that he be mixed with several characters of other elements for enhanced performance on the battlefield, especially when considering his Elemental DMG boost. Another great aspect of Kazuha is that his Elemental Burst has a rather low Energy cost, allowing him to use it more frequently and, therefore, consistently buff his allies.
Additionally, Kazuha’s best build in Genshin Impact is also very easy to achieve, as his requirements are low, especially when compared to the likes of Neuvillette. By pumping enough Elemental Mastery and Energy Regeneration into Kazuha, players can optimize his Swirling capabilities and keep his Burst up for most of the time.
While he is extremely versatile, Kazuha does not fit teams whose elements do not interact with Anemo. Surely, a team with him could have Zhongli as a shielder, but having him inserted into a mono-Geo team with Itto or Navia as the main DPS, supported by Albedo or Gorou, for instance, would make the Inazuma swordsman go to waste.
Is Neuvillette Or Kazuha Better In Genshin Impact 4.5
Determining whether Kazuha or Neuvillette is better is difficult, as both do their distinct functions superbly. If players want one of the strongest DPS characters in the game and are content with having to put in extra work to fine-tune his build and ensure he not only melts opponents but survives it, Neuvillette is a great choice. He relies on a strong damage mitigator, be that a healer or a shielder, so having that could also influence a player’s choice.
Alternatively, Kazuha is a versatile and universal support for teams that thrive on Elemental Reactions. This character is also easy to build, making him an easy choice to pull if a support with his powers is needed. Kazuha can be fine-tuned without much effort and can be inserted into several team comps with much thought, so players running multiple parties should consider him. Ultimately, choosing between Neuvillette and Kazuha in Genshin Impact 4.5 will come down to what the player needs at that moment.
