Sister Wives star Robyn Brown said she wanted monogamy, and when she did, Robyn might have thought that a traditional one-on-one marriage with Kody Brown would guarantee a happy ending. Now, a lot has happened in the family, including the tragic death of Garrison Brown. As Robyn and Kody grieve, they need to think about their future together while looking back at a wrenching event that is so heartbreaking. It isn't just Garrison's passing that's going to affect them. It's also the pressures of being together without Meri, Janelle and Christine Brown in the mix.

In the past, it was like Kody and Robyn were on one side, with the rest of the Brown family on the other. The couple was a united front, dealing with the complaints of the other Brown women and their children. Maybe they liked this "us against the world" mentality - it might have actually made their romance more exciting. Perhaps they felt like star-crossed lovers - a modern day Romeo and Juliet.

Now, that sense of not being close to many other Browns may make them sad.

Kody & Robyn Brown May Feel Isolated

Close

Kody and Robyn never saw this tragedy in the distance. They probably thought they had a family with problems, just like so many other people do. However, people in monogamous marriages can run into trouble even when there aren't soul-destroying events like Garrison's death. Constant togetherness can drain the romance out of things - familiarity breeds contempt.

While Robyn and Kody spent a lot of time together during the pandemic, the other wives were still participating in the Brown plural marriage, if only by complaining via calls, texts and emails.

Now, things may be so much quieter. After an emotional funeral that must have been so painful for everyone, the Browns may go their separate ways. It's possible that Janelle and Kody will get closer after sharing their grief, but it's even more likely that they'll keep their distance.

Meanwhile, Christine's fully moved on, embracing life with her new husband. David Woolley. They've purchased a home in Moab, Utah - they are trying to recoup some of their costs by listing the house on Airbnb. After her split with Kody, Meri started a new relationship with Amos Andrews, but it didn't last. She's not Kody's biggest fan either but Meri didn't seem to mind Robyn.

It's Time For Healing In The Brown Family

Kody and Robyn need to keep having fun together. In Sister Wives season 18, Robyn started putting Kody down more and there were other red flags, as seen in the clip above. Robyn was frustrated by his mood swings and even hated his crêpes. However, in general, they're a pretty solid pair.

Kody clearly adores the brunette who was wife number four and destined to be his one and only.

Since they are together now, and Robyn doesn't want Kody to go courting, they have to make their marriage fun and romantic. While they're grieving right now and will be for a long time, there may be moments when they want to do things together, whether it's going to the mall or a restaurant or whatever. They should do so without guilt. They shouldn't have to apologize to the world for loving each other. Love isn't wrong or a crime.

However, just as importantly, to stay together, Kody and Robyn need to confront the past. How did things come to this? Garrison had mental health issues and problems that weren't related to Kody. However, Kody and Janelle's son did show his disapproval for Kody onscreen.

If Kody and Robyn try to heal their fractured relationships with the ex-wives and Kody's children with them, it may ease some of their pain. For decades, this family stayed together, even when times were very tough. So many memories, good and bad, were created as time passed. A lot of good memories featuring Garrison should now be treasured. Those memories also feature other Brown family members, such as Janelle.

Yes, Kody and Robyn have a rough ride ahead, but the Sister Wives stars may be able to overcome their problems. Their marriage may even get stronger. Since they've stayed together through thick and thin, Garrison's tragic death and the usual pressures of monogamy may not be enough to tear them apart. As they've gone though so much in order to be a traditional couple, they should do everything they can to protect and cherish their love.
