The Way Home is a Hallmark Channel original series and the cast of the 2023 fantasy drama includes some new faces as well as some recognizable stars from classic TV shows and movies. Premiering in January 2023, The Way Home is an original series that follows three female generations of the Landry family, who realize that a pond on Grandmother Del's property has the ability to transport those who fall into it back in time. 15-year-old Alice goes back in time and meets her mother, grandmother, and others in their younger years.

Most viewers know Hallmark primarily as a movie channel, but it has had a handful of original series since it was established. The Way Home is a charming adventure with a solid cast rounding out the present and past characters, and the series has an ambitious edge, jumping as far back as the 1800s. The cast of the series consists of recognizable actors from notable TV series, up-and-comers, young talents, and a Golden Globe-nominated actor. Kat Landry, played by Chyler Leigh, is Alice's mother and Del's daughter and often finds herself caught between her willful daughter and demanding mother. At the same time, she is struggling to get over the loss of her brother Jake, who was the first to disappear into the pond when he was only a young boy. Leigh's career has primarily been in television, but she does have a notable lead role in the teen comedy parody Not Another Teen Movie as Janey Briggs, the lead and stereotypical "Pretty Ugly Girl".

Leigh is probably better known for her television roles, including her biggest as Alex Danvers/Sentinel in the Arrowverse, primarily in Supergirl, where she is one of the lead characters. Veteran film and television actor Andie MacDowell costars in The Way Home as Del Landry, Kat's mother and Alice's grandmother who was estranged at the start of the series only to unexpectedly ask them to return home at the outset of the show. MacDowell is a four-time Golden Globe-nominated actor with years of experience in major films and television.
