Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 1, 2024 (Puzzle #294)
April Fools is one of the most unpredictable days of the year, and the amazing editor of Connections created something a little different for this day of mischief. Instead of the standard collection of words, players will be greeted with sixteen emojis. The game itself hasn't changed though and there are some very well-crafted categories for each selection of pictures in today's game.
The use of pictures absolutely threw us off our game at first, but once you begin to delve into it, most players should be able to score a win. We still have the category hints and answer spoilers below for those who may be having a bit of difficulty with this very different approach to Connections.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained
FOOD SLANG FOR MONEY BREAD BACON LETTUCE CHEESE
We scored today's Connections win in order today, starting with the 'most straightforward' yellow category. I must admit though, our yellow win had nothing to do with the actual category and instead we thought we were creating an awesome sandwich, a little BLT minus the T. After the category revealed itself we had a good chuckle and moved onto the next one.
Green Answers: Revealed & Explained
WORDS THAT RHYME PLANE RAIN TRAIN BRAIN
Many thanks to the 1987 movie Planes Trains and Automobiles for helping us notice this green rhyming category. PLANE and TRAIN stood out right away. BRAIN was a quick addition but it did take some time to see that the cloud emoji represented RAIN and not just a cloud or weather. We quickly scored the green and moved on to our favorite Connections category ever, Horror Movies!

HORROR MOVIES ALIEN SCREAM DRACULA SAW
We are absolutely obsessed with horror movies so when we saw the final eight emojis that were left it was easy to connect the dots and score the blue category.
ALIEN : The 1979 sci-fi classic that brought the incredible designs of H.R. Giger to life. I remember watching this flick when I was 13 and not being able to sleep for a week.

SCREAM : Ghostface is the absolute perfect movie-killer, it can be anyone at any time, and the "idea" of Ghostface can live on forever. Anyone can decide to take up the mantle and they are now Ghostface. This is a hill I will die on, preferably by a giant blade.

The first is Mel Brooks' Dracula: Dead and Loving It, obviously.

SAW: The Saw series has always been a guilty pleasure of mine. Over the years the narrative has become so convoluted that it's impossible to keep track, but there's something special about seeing what new and wacky devices the writers have come up with this time. The blood seesaw in Saw X was one of the most intense things I have ever seen, it also makes a great tongue-twister. "I seek to see the blood seesaw in Saw."
