10 Powerful New Weapons That Need To Be Added To Helldivers 2
Summary Premium Warbonds introduce powerful weapons to Helldivers 2 without feeling like unfair monetization, offering a variety of new options for players.
Weapons like the FLAM-24 Pyro and PLAS-3 Singe would help fill the gaps in secondary choices, providing unique and powerful alternatives for players to try out.
The diverse arsenal in Helldivers 2 adds depth and strategy to gameplay, creating exciting moments for players.
Helldivers 2 is filled with a variety of fun weapons for eliminating enemies of Super Earth, but some powerful options are still needed. Helldivers 2 has been one of the most popular and successful games of 2024, with its chaotic gameplay being a large part of that. The overarching power fantasy created by the multitude of weapons and destructive Stratagem choices makes every mission feel exciting while still being unique. This is coupled with the real genius behind Helldivers 2, its horizontal progression system, which offers much of the game's arsenal early.
Weapons, new and returning, have trickled out in premium Warbonds after the initial free one gave players a basic but varied armory. Each premium Warbond is filled with three new primaries along with a new secondary. Though locking weapons behind a paywall can usually be seen as unwanted monetization, Helldivers 2 avoids this problem. This is due to how the premium currency Super Credits can be easily acquired through focused farming or natural play.

10 FLAM-24 Pyro Deals Massive Damage
An option for a returning secondary from the original game is the FLAM-24 Pyro. The Pyro is a smaller version of the Incinerator support weapon but with the drawbacks of less ammo and range. However, the damage stays the same and the Pyro was one of the highest-damage secondary weapons in Helldivers. Fire damage is one of Helldivers 2's most powerful assets, so having a pocket flamethrower while committing to another support weapon is a huge boon.
Another benefit of the Pyro is how weak the Secondary options are in Helldivers 2. Though the recent Democratic Detonation Warbond added the Grenade Pistol, even that has its limitations. The only other competitive Secondary is the Senator hand cannon, but it has significant downsides. If Pyro was introduced in the sequel, it would likely put itself as the top secondary choice for Helldivers.
9 PLAS-3 Singe Is A Powerful Plasma Secondary

Another option to help fill out the lackluster Secondary options in Helldivers 2 is the PLAS-3 Singe. Like the Pyro, the Singe is a smaller version of an existing weapon. In this case, the Singe is the smaller version of the PLAS-1 Scorcher. However, in the original Helldivers, it was the better gun in terms of damage and fire rate, albeit coming with a massive ammo decrease.
With only two other Plasma weapons in the game, the Singe can help fill out both the Plasma and Secondary rosters. It also packs a big enough punch to be better than any other Secondary currently in the game. The only caveat with the Singe is that of all Plasma weapons. This is to be cautious of positioning when firing as the Plasma explosions will kill players if they are too close.
8 M2016 Constitution Is A High-Precision Rifle
The M2016 is a precision weapon from Helldivers that is based on the American Springfield rifle. In lore, it is mainly a promotional weapon used for celebrations and coming-of-age gifts. However, the gun does have its charm and would be a powerful, fun option for Helldivers.
Its superior long-range capabilities would also make it a perfect partner for those who like to mainly use time-dominated support weapons like the Arc Thrower or Autocannon. Another feature of the Constitution is that a bayonet under-barrel could be attached, which would give Helldivers extra melee damage with the tradeoff of attack speed.
Stat-wise, the Constitution packed a punch and had some of the best range in the game. In a way, it was the closest thing to a shotgun with the range of a precision rifle. Lastly, the Constitution is the only primary gun that does not empty its magazine on reload, as it uses a single bullet reload animation. Thus, if players avoid using the last shot, they have a gun that will theoretically never run out of ammo while always being ready to fire.

7 DBS-2 Double Freedom Is A Powerful Shotgun
Custom Image by Katarina Cimbaljevic
The DBS-2 Double Freedom is a double-barrel shotgun from Helldivers. As is to be expected from a double barrel, the Double Freedom packs quite a punch and also has the largest spread of any shotgun. This spread is what makes it so impactful and sets it apart from the other shotguns, which currently have the most weapon choices in Helldivers 2. This spread allows for a much larger area clear than the others, making the Double Freedom a powerful pick for fighting Terminids.
The caveat to the Double Freedom is that it will need to be reloaded after every shot. However, the reload speed is relatively quick, making it a friendly pick for mobile Helldivers. Though weapon upgrades are not a feature in Helldivers 2, the Double Freedom did have two options that could be naturally implemented if carried over. These would turn it into a sawed-off shotgun that would light enemies on fire and could be carried in one hand.
6 LAS-12 Tanto Is A Powerful Energy SMG
The LAS-12 Tanto is an Energy/Laser weapon from Helldivers that takes the shape of an SMG. Energy weapons have become a popular choice due to their heat mechanic that can keep smart players from needing ammo resupply for entire missions. Thus, the Tanto, which is one of the most powerful Energy weapons, would be a great new inclusion. The Tanto traded off range, as it has one of the smallest in the game, for a huge increase in damage.
A unique feature of Energy weapons is their ability to ignore armor to some extent. This mechanic, combined with the Tanto's damage, made it one of the few guns that could kill anything. However, this does come with the risk of needing to get close enough for the Energy SMG shots to hit. Regardless, the risks of using the Tanto are vastly outweighed by how powerful the gun is.
5 TOX-13 Avenger Applies A Debuff
The TOX-13 Avenger is a support weapon from Helldivers that is essentially a toxic version of the Incinerator. The Avenger would launch toxins, akin to Bile Spewers and Bile Titans, that would slow and weaken enemies. Though its personal damage was on the weaker end, the supportive capabilities of the weapon are powerful. These debuffs make the Avenger a great pick for mobile enemies who want to rush players or heavily armored behemoths.
The Avenger would be a great addition for two main reasons: debuffing and supporting. Helldivers 2 does not have any weapons that fill these roles, as while Helldivers can support each other, no weapon has the main purpose of making enemies easier to kill. Thus, the Avenger would be powerful for high-level missions where heavy armor enemies are more frequent. The Avenger could also open up new support playstyles for players who don't like being as aggressive or prefer supporting teammates.
4 M-25 Rumbler Is An Explosive Option
The M-25 Rumbler is a portable mortar support weapon from Helldivers. This weapon, while being quite clunky to use and maneuver with, had the best damage in the entire game. The Rumbler would fire off a series of burst explosives at the targeted area before needing to be reloaded. Though the damage alone is enough to justify the Rumbler, another advantage would be fixing the problem with Sentry Turrets. As strong and useful as these Mortar Sentrys are, the indiscriminate friendly fire has made them somewhat hated.
The Rumbler could also see a sibling weapon introduced, if not replace it completely. This is because an upgrade to the Rumbler allowed its explosives to inflict poison damage on any enemies lucky enough to survive. This could be used to nerf the Rumbler for more reasonable damage. Another alternative is an entirely new mortar weapon that could launch toxins similar to the Avenger, giving players another support weapon with a much greater range.
3 AK-14D Paragon Can Help With Crowd Control
The AK-14D Paragon was a unique rifle from Helldivers as it used toxin-laced ammo. This toxin was different from what the Avenger used as it only slowed. However, this slow, along with the surprisingly high burst damage of the Paragon, made it a powerful option. The largest downside of the Paragon is the limited ammo it is given to balance out its immense strengths.
Like other Helldivers weapons based on older technology, the Paragon also comes equipped with a bayonet. This feature is extremely helpful for taking care of enemies that do manage to get close enough, as the likelihood is they are weakened enough to be easily killed. The Paragon would fill a hybrid role in Helldivers 2, as it is strong enough to be a primary killer, though ammo must be rationed, while still having support capabilities for tankier targets due to the toxin's debuff.
2 Original Idea: Helldiver Phalanx
The inclusion of melee weapons has been one of the most popular demands in Helldivers 2. The original game did include a Saber that could be used, but this could be taken a step farther. Inspired by ancient warfare, Helldivers could take up a more mobile but still durable round shield along with a long spear. Thus, Phalanx units are capable of taking more hits while using the spear to keep out of enemy melee range.
This idea may be limited at higher difficulties, but it was likely even the Saber would struggle there, too if reintroduced. Regardless, this would still be a powerful weapon choice for most content while playing into the realistic power fantasy that Helldivers 2 has created. If at all possible, a fun addition for the Phalanx would be allowing players to throw the spear from range and not having to retrieve it, simply pulling another spear out.
1 Original Idea: Cryo Gun
Custom Image by Katarina Cimbaljevic
Playing on the elemental theme Helldivers 2 has created, a Cryo gun would make a great support weapon. This would likely be a support weapon, but it would be a thrower like the Incinerator or Avenger. By blasting out heavy amounts of compressed cold air, Helldivers can slow and eventually freeze enemies. This debuff could leave them weaker to certain types of damage, like physical bullets that can easily shatter ice.
To balance out this option, some enemies like Bile Titans or Factory Striders could be immune to the freeze. Another idea for larger enemies could be freezing specific areas or limbs, creating a precision weakspot on the enemy rather than the whole hitbox. The Cryo Gun would also play into the weather modifiers of planets. It takes a much longer time to freeze on hot planets, but significantly quicker on cold planets.
Helldivers 2 has done an excellent job of adding new, fun, and powerful weapons to the game while still keeping them realistic. Though pushing these limits a bit would not be a bad thing, going too far risks losing the unique feeling they have gained. The current method of dropping four new guns every month has worked so far and includes a good mix of new and returning weapons. Thus, Helldivers 2 should continue this method and look to bring back these powerful options from the original game while still introducing completely new options.
