1000-Lb Sisters: 8 Times Chris Combs Was There For His Family (Throughout Their Weight Loss Journeys)

Summary Chris Combs lost over 150 pounds, supporting sisters Tammy and Amy on their weight-loss journeys.

Chris's physical transformation improved his life, marriage, and relationship with his grandkids.

Chris was deeply supportive of his family, standing by them during surgeries, weddings, and divorces.

1000-lb Sisters star Chris Combs has lost over 150 pounds since the series premiered in 2020 while supporting his family through their various weight-loss journeys. Though the series is centered around the lives of sisters Tammy Slaton and Amy Slaton, Chris is a fan-favorite personality. In part, fans love Chris because he's funny and somehow manages to make losing weight look like joyful fun. He's also beloved because of how supportive he has always been of his family.

When viewers first met Chris, he was helping his sister, Tammy, taking her to see her doctors. Chris grew up with Tammy, Amy, and their other brother, Steven Slaton, in Shawneetown, Illinois, and the family has always been close. Chris started off weighing 450 pounds, but he is down to under 300 pounds and is working on losing even more. Like his sisters, Chris's unhealthy relationship with food started at an early age. Their mother worked a lot, so the kids had to feed themselves. They ate a lot of junk food because it was cheaper and easier to prepare.

As Chris grew up, he started working in the food industry. He worked for the American food corporation Tyson Foods, and then in a McDonald's kitchen, where he met his wife, Brittany Combs. Chris admitted that working at these food-oriented businesses led him to eat more. While losing weight, Chris has continued to support the rest of the Slatons, as they all embark on their personal weight-loss journeys.

No matter how busy life may get, Chris never forgets what really matters. Chris is a proud grandfather and, in January 2022, Chris posted an Instagram photo of himself holding his three adorable grandchildren, who all appear to be under the age of four. In the photo, the 1000-lb Sisters star beams proudly alongside a caption that reads, "Nothing better than grand kids."

Fans of 1000-lb Sisters took to the comment section to register their support of how much slimmer Chris looks. "Looking good Chris," wrote one fan, while another concurred, writing, "Great pic. You look amzing." One of the most interesting things about the show is that fans have a unique relationship with the Slatons, whom they encourage and feel inspired by.

7 Chris Combs & Brittany

Happy Couple

Chris was 450 pounds when he first embarked on his weight-loss journey, and he looked like a different person. At his former size, Chris' mobility was limited, but since losing weight, his life has changed completely, and so has the life of his wife, Brittany. His increased mobility meant she could get out more too. He and Brittany even went on a family vacation to Florida, which wouldn't have been possible before the Slatons all lost weight. In February 2021, Chris posted an Instagram carousel of photos of him and Brittany looking happy together.

Despite the joke, Chris's physical transformation likely contributed to a renewed spark in his relationship with his wife. Brittany is a 1000-lb Sisters fan favorite, and, like the rest of the Slatons, Brittany has embarked on her weight-loss journey over the years. She recently even said that she's considering bariatric surgery. Chris and Brittany have been married since October 2016 and live in Kentucky.

If Brittany decides to go through with having bariatric surgery, no doubt her super supportive husband would be there by her side the whole time.

Chris is there for his other siblings too. In January, Dr. Eric Smith posted an Instagram clip of Misty Slaton going in for bariatric surgery. In the footage, Chris is there with Misty in the hospital, up until the moment she's wheeled into surgery. It is unclear if this was Misty's first surgery. Though it's not uncommon for some people to have revision weight loss surgery, there's a higher risk of complications for the patient the second time around.

On the left side of the split screen is a photo of Chris, pre-weight-loss, wearing his fast-food uniform, and on the right is a recent photo of a slimmed-down Chris finishing a 5k run.

The caption reads, "Remember when riding a rollercoaster for the first time was a big deal for @chris.combs.5243? Well, Chris just left that thrill in the dust by finishing his first 5k this past weekend!" Like his sisters, Tammy and Amy, Chris' weight-loss transformation has been extraordinary.

"The main reason I want surgery is because my dad passed away at age 57. He was between 400-500 pounds. I am 41. I want to be around my family. They are my everything."

Though losing weight isn't easy, Chris made it look like he was having fun, which viewers appreciated. Chris did more than just add levity to the show; he brought a deep emotional layer. Though Chris struggled with his weight, he explained he wanted to get serious about it now because he's reaching the age that his father was when he died. He Helped During Their Divorces

Though Chris has been blessed with a happy marriage, his siblings haven't been so lucky. Amanda's ex-husband, Jason Halterman, filed for divorce, as did Amy's ex-husband, Michael Halterman. Yes, the sisters married a pair of brothers, and therefore, the reason they have the same last name.

Amanda, a mother of three, and Amy, who has two small children herself, both leaned on Chris for support and guidance.

Though Amanda's divorce happened in private, the dissolution of Amy's marriage happened on the show. Amy has been struggling with her mental health, and she has never needed her brother more. One thing is certain: Chris will be there for Amy and his family for the rest of his life.
