Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has revealed its first footage at CinemaCon. The next movie in the ongoing franchise will feature the debut of Shadow the Hedgehog, a character first teased at the end of Sonic the Hedgehog 2. So far, information on the threequel has been sparse outside Jim Carrey's return as Dr. Robotnik and filming now being complete after facing some delays due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike.
During Paramount Pictures' CinemaCon panel, of which Screen Rant was in attendance, the studio shared the first footage for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 3. Though brief, the footage revealed that Carrey's Robotnik would finally get a game-accurate design as he becomes a Howard Hughes-like reclusive figure, gaining a lot of weight with empty food cans and boxes around him, though undergoes a transformation after learning where Shadow is located. The footage then showed Knuckles, Tails, and Sonic discovering Shadow, with the echidna bluntly remarking that the villainous hedgehog is much more impressive than the titular one.
