Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 12, 2024 (Puzzle #305)

The new Connections is up and today's game is ready to break some long-standing win streaks. There is a fun and eclectic mix of categories in today's selection without any of them being too niche. Broad categories tend to be easier to decipher, but this particular day still has a bit of difficulty within.

With the multitude of one-a-day games popping up, it's nice to find those few that you can really enjoy, and for many that's Connections. It's simple and fun gameplay rewards taking chances with matches that may not work at first. But the most important tip to playing a game of Connections is to take your time. There is no timer and thinking out the actual matches is the key to victory. Once you've scored one or two the game actually gets easier, allowing for a quicker turnaround near the end.

ORDERLY CLEAN NEAT TIDY TRIM

Yellow was the second category that we scored today and another easy one, alongside the green. NEAT, TIDY, and CLEAN all seem like obvious matches right away while TRIM took a second or two to match up. Despite that, it was a quick and easy win.

Green Answers: Revealed & Explained

AUGMENTATIVE PREFIXES HYPER SUPER UBER ULTRA

We scored the green category first for one reason and one reason only, Street Fighter II. Well, more specifically; Street Fighter II, Street Fighter II: Champion Edition, Street Fighter II: Hyper Fighting, Super Street Fighter II, Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers, Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Super Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting, Ultra Street Fighter II: The Final Challengers, and Hyper Street Fighter II: The Anniversary Edition.

Even though there hasn't been a Street Fighter II: Uber vs Lyft Edition we were still able to score the win in today's green category and move on with our day.

Vega will always be the best character in any Street Fighter game. Don't @ me.

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

BECOME LARGER BALLOON MUSHROOM SNOWBALL SWELL

Blue had all the leftover words for us today and was the last one for us to solve. No issues here and we can admit we did not notice the actual connection until it popped up. SWELL and BALLOON made sense immediately but we couldn't get our brains off of MUSHROOM as a food and SNOWBALL as the things that Calvin and Hobbes constantly threw at each other.

Purple Answers: Revealed & Explained

ITEMS IN CLASSIC KIDS' GAMES DOMINO JACK MARBLE STICK

As an enthusiast of all types of games, today's purple category was a quick win for us. I would like to argue that this is no longer a collection of classic games, these are ancient games. A category of classic games in 2024 should contain words like POGS, BEYBLADES, or ELECTRONIC DREAM PHONE (Guess Who You Like in this Talking Telephone Game!). Just a suggestion, take it or leave it New York Times, I'm available if Wyna ever wants to step away from Connections.
