Most comic fans likely first noticed the work of Dauterman when he served as the primary artist on 2014's Thor series, which featured the debut of Jane Foster's Thor. In the series written by Jason Aaron, the identity of the new female Thor was initially a mystery to readers. But Dauterman's mesmerizing artwork of the masked Goddess of Thunder captivated readers and helped make the book a smashing success. Dauterman would be a key figure in the epic story of Foster's Thor, from that initial introduction to the character all the way up to the War of the Realms event that spread across the entire Marvel Universe.
“Russell's art is stunning. His sense of design and composition, plus his modern sense of storytelling, makes him one of Marvel's top artists to follow," said Hank Kanalz, Publisher of Clover Press. "And follow they do - it was great to see his X-Men '97 #1 variant cover go viral on social media when he and Marvel revealed it, leading into the animated series debut. His love for these characters comes through with every page.”
More recently, Dauterman made comic fans' jaws drop with his high fashion costume designs for the X-Men's annual Hellfire Gala.
