8 Heroes Characters Who Need To Return In The New Reboot
Summary Heroes is set to get a remake and deserves a return of key characters like Sylar, portrayed by Zachary Quinto, to continue their stories.
Characters like Tommy Clark and Malina Bennet from Heroes Reborn have unresolved stories that should continue in the new series.
Characters like Mohinder Suresh and Tracy Strauss should also be brought back to help develop the narrative in the upcoming Heroes: Eclipsed series.
Heroes is set to get a remake, but to do the original series justice, several characters need to return and finish their story. Heroes quickly gained widespread critical acclaim after the first season began airing in 2006 and the series was nominated for a variety of awards, including Primetime Emmys. However, after the incredible start to the series, later seasons lost momentum and viewership took a sharp dive (via The Guardian). The series was then canceled due to the ratings drop, and the series concluded with the fourth season in 2010.
Several years later, in 2015, a spin-off miniseries, Heroes Reborn, was released on NBC. While some of the original characters returned, there were notable absences, and the story jumped ahead several years. Assuming the events of both Heroes and Heroes Reborn are canonical, considering the creator Tim Kring was behind both, it makes sense that the new spin-off, Heroes: Eclipsed, which is also being produced by Kring, will follow on from both shows (via Deadline). However, with a new series now confirmed, some of the original cast could finally return to continue their stories.
8 Gabriel "Sylar" Gray
Throughout Heroes, Sylar (Zachary Quinto) was the primary antagonist who hunted and slaughtered powered people to acquire their gifts. Sylar was ruthless and singularly focused on understanding how these people worked, and once he was able to get inside their heads, he could replicate their gifts. However, by the end of the series, Sylar had undergone a change which led to him working with heroes like Peter Petrelli. Sylar still maintained his sadistic nature, deriving pleasure from pain as he did when dealing with Eric Doyle in the original series finale, but he was aligned with the heroes.
In the spin-off, Heroes Reborn, Sylar never appears on-screen, although he is mentioned. Apparently, in the five years that passed between the original series ending and Heroes Reborn beginning, Sylar had a complete change of heart. He was last seen helping innocent Evos to escape from the evil organization, Renautas. Following this, he escaped using invisibility powers along with Peter Petrelli and Claude Rains. Sylar's whereabouts are unknown, but he was a pivotal part of the original series with an ambiguous ending that deserves to have his story told.

7 Tommy Clark (Nathan Bennet)
Tommy Clark is the primary protagonist in Heroes Reborn, where he is played by Robbie Kay. Tommy was originally born Nathan Bennet, and he is the biological son of Claire Bennet. During childbirth, Claire died due to Tommy's powers of power absorption, which led to him taking her gift of healing, and her body not being able to properly recover after giving birth to Tommy and his twin sister, Malina. The series has Tommy learning a lot about his origins, but by the series' end, his future is left unclear with the threat of his father returning being hinted at.
Tommy and Malina are only beginning to harness their gifts in Heroes Reborn, and they still have a lot to learn. Combined with the threat of their father, Hammer, returning, their story is one of the most interesting to come out of Heroes Reborn, with much more to uncover. Depending on when the new series is set, the character could be older and wiser, ready to tackle whatever threats come for the Evos alongside the original cast from Heroes. This will be aided by the connections he has already formed with people like Noah Bennet, his grandfather.
6 Malina Bennet
Malina Bennet is the daughter of Claire Bennet and the twin sister of Tommy. On the day that both twins were born, Hiro Nakamura transported them back in time 15 years earlier. As a result, despite being born in 2014, the twins were already teenagers by 2015. Malina has the ability to control the weather and elements, but due to her brother's abilities, and a vision of Malina and Tommy saving the world in the future, the decision to separate the twins at birth was made.
When the pair reunite, however, it is revealed that Malina also has the ability to fuse her powers with her brother and create an even more powerful energy blast, providing they have a third person in between as a conduit. This power is what the twins used to stop the destructive solar flares, HELE, and also partially what leads to their grandfather, Noah Bennet's death. Malina and Tommy both need to return to continue their stories and join forces with other Evos in the new rebooted series.

5 Mohinder Suresh
Mohinder Suresh was a pivotal character in the Heroes series, where he carried on his father's research into enhanced humans. Through the series, he eventually experimented on himself in an effort to gain powers. In Heroes Reborn, Mohinder returns and reveals that he did some work with Peter before he had to go on the run. Mohinder was one of the most important characters as a narrator and an individual who was actively studying the events that led to powered people's existence.
However, by the end of Heroes Reborn, Mohinder has disappeared. Considering his central role in previous projects, and his unknown status, it would be wrong if Mohinder did not return in Heroes: Eclipsed, or at the very least that his fate be mentioned. He is also the ideal character to bring back to frame the narrative, with voice-overs about whatever is happening. As an anchor for the audience, Mohinder is the perfect person to bring back to help develop the narrative in the upcoming series.
4 Tracy Strauss
Tracy Strauss is one of three triplets, along with her sisters Niki Sanders and Barbara. Upon her birth, she was given synthetic abilities, allowing her to freeze things. Tracy was a political advisor before her powers developed, establishing a high-level career that gave her incredible access. She eventually met her nephew, Micah Sanders, after her sister had already died, but Micah was not aware of his mother having any siblings. Tracy did not have a lot of overlap with the other Evos, but she did meet some of them on rare occasions.
At the end of the original series, she shows up to save Claire and Noah Bennet, but that is the last time that she is seen or mentioned. She had an important role in the original series, as a fierce and highly intelligent Evo, and her familial connection to Micah means that they are the last living family member that each of them have. Tracy should return, at the very least to clarify what happened since Heroes ended, and potentially form a closer bond with her nephew Micah.

3 Micah Sanders
In Heroes, Micah last appeared when he rescued Tracy using his technopath powers. Due to his unique skills, he was able to hack into highly secure computers and files, becoming an invaluable part of any investigation by the heroes on evil organizations that were manipulating them. Micah lost his mother, Niki Sanders, earlier in the show, and he struggled without a parental figure in his life, but he also grew up fast because of it. This was further helped by his incredible maturity at a young age, due to his single mother's work frequently keeping her busy.
Despite all the challenges, Micah grew up to be someone worth looking up to in Heroes Reborn. Micah is responsible for a global broadcast that reveals Renautas for the evil corporation it is, and details the upcoming solar flare event, HELE, that could destroy the Earth. Having made himself a public target, and being so influential in saving the world in Heroes Reborn, it only makes sense to bring Micah back in the new series, potentially in a leadership role as one of the upcoming generation of Evos, who also had a part to play with the originals in Heroes.
2 Peter Petrelli
In Heroes, Peter Petrelli was being set up to be the most powerful hero of them all in Heroes, and the only real opponent who could put a stop to people like Sylar. Peter has the ability to absorb and replicate powers from others just by being near them. Throughout the series, Peter struggled to get full control over his powers, and he underwent changes that halted them, and caused Peter to only be able to use one power at a time occasionally, but he was also the person who believed in the mission of being a hero most.
Before developing powers, Peter worked as an EMT. Once his powers developed, he felt the deepest sense of responsibility to help others. After the series ends, Heroes Reborn reveals that Peter forms a group known as the Petrelli movement, which helps to protect Evos from exploitation and government interference. This movement had several of the most prominent figures from the original series join Peter, before the government shut down the movement and Peter had to go into hiding with Claude and Sylar. In Heroes Reborn, Micah continues to lead the movement in Peter's absence.

1 Caitlin
Technically, Caitlin was only a minor character who appeared in Heroes season 2, but she was also the character who received one of the worst fates. After dating Peter Petrelli briefly, Caitlin has the misfortune of being with Peter when he involuntarily time-jumps into a horrifying future where the virus has taken over. However, before the lovers can reunite, Peter flashes back into the present, leaving Caitlin trapped and alone in a dystopian future.
Caitlin has no powers, and by the time Peter is capable of traveling forward in time to try and save her, the future has already changed. This means that Caitlin was trapped in an alternate horrifying future, with no means of escape, no friends, and completely removed from everything and everyone she ever knew. The new Heroes series should make some effort to bring Caitlin back, or at the very least, not ignore her like the rest of the original series did.
