Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom DLC - Release Date, New Content, & Price

This article covers a developing story. Continue to check back with us as we will be adding more information as it becomes available.

Summary The Forgotten Kingdom is the new DLC for Remnant 2, continuing the storyline against the evil Root race.

New DLC introduces a new archetype, the Invoker, who draws strength from nature and the jungle.

The DLC costs $9.99 standalone or $24.99 as part of a bundle, with new storylines, characters, weapons, and items included.

Gunfire Games has announced the second major DLC for Remnant 2. The third-person shooter RPG title is a direct sequel to 2019's Remnant: From the Ashes, continuing from its 2020 DLC, Subject 2923, and sees players assume control of a group of post-apocalyptic fighters - in either single-player or up to three-player co-op - who are tasked with stopping a race of evil plant species called Root, which seeks to destroy the multiverse. Upon its launch, Remnant 2 was praised for its satisfying gameplay and its massive, dynamically generated worlds, which are filled with branching quest lines and unique loot to encourage exploration and replayability.

The Forgotten Kingdom follows November 2023's The Awakened King, which focused on the events in Losomn after the main game's conclusion, as The One True King returned from his slumber to rule the kingdom with bloodlust, having been corrupted by Root to launch a campaign of revenge. The new DLC will see players piecing together the forgotten history of the lost tribe of Yaesha, exploring mysterious new areas as they attempt to quell the vengeful wrath of an ancient stone spirit called Lydusa. A third and final DLC is confirmed to be launching "sometime later this year". These set stories are called "One Shots" as they essentially follow a set story with a more fixed biome, rather than the more randomized generation seen in the base game. Later playthroughs allow players to reroll, however, which randomizes its events and dungeons and incorporates more from the base game.

Players can access Remnant 2's DLC content by selecting "Adventure Mode" when touching the World Stone after reaching the game's main hub, Ward 13.

Close

The Forgotten Kingdom will introduce several new characters and items as players explore the jungle-type biome of Yaesha as part of its new story, navigating the lingering traces of torment, treachery, and death that haunt the land's once proud Ziggurats, as Lydusa's living stone constructs wander the crumbling remnants of an ancient civilization infested by Root in search of fresh blood. In a brand-new storyline, players team up with unexpected allies to uncover the secrets of the lost tribe by traversing new dungeons, acquiring powerful gear, and facing new threats in their quest to return some semblance of peace to the forgotten kingdom.

Throughout Remnant 2, players could define their own playstyle with a wide assortment of guns, armor, and special augmentations as they overcome hard-fought challenges to stave off humanity’s extinction. Much like The Awakened King DLC before it, a host of new weapons and modifications, along with new items, like amulets and rings will be coming to the game in The Forgotten Kingdom to better ensure players' survival in the forgotten civilization of Yaesha, which is expected to bring new challenges for all players with its mysterious threats, consisting of new bosses, survivors, and fearsome creatures.

Remnant 2: The Forgotten Kingdom Introduces A New Archetype

The Invoker Will Draw Strength From Nature And Harness The Jungle's Power

The Forgotten Kingdom also introduces a new Archetype called "The Invoker". Archetypes are the Classes of Remnant 2, with four starter Archetypes in the base game (Challenger, Handler, Hunter, and Medic) and seven secret archetypes (Gunslinger, Summoner, Explorer, Alchemist, Engineer, Invader, and Archon) that can be unlocked later, each with their own unique set of skills. The Awakened King DLC also added a further Archetype called The Ritualist that focused on status effects and area of effect damage. As with The Awakened King's Ritualist, the new Invoker Archetype seems to be themed to this specific storyline and location as it draws strength from the Nature Spirits of Yaesha and can harness the mystic power of the jungle.

Gunfire Games has promised more details on the new Invoker Archetype will be revealed in a following trailer.

With a brand-new, mystery-driven story, a new location to explore and so much additional content to change up and enhance gameplay, there's plenty for Remnant 2 players to look forward to when they jump back into the game on April 23. As confirmed by the official Remnant 2 X account before the launch of The Awakened King, those who own the DLC will be able to bring along their friends who don't on their adventure, so they can experience the new storyline as well, but only those who own a copy will be able to use any DLC-related items.
