Horrifying Real Life DogDay Animatronic Gets Poppy Playtime Devs' Approval

Summary The DogDay animatronic from Poppy Playtime impresses fans with its hauntingly effective design and lifelike movements.

Wicked Makers showcase the lengthy process of creating the DogDay animatronic, earning praise from the community and developers.

Despite DogDay's tragic fate in Chapter 3, fans speculate on his possible return in future installments of Poppy Playtime.

Poppy Playtime fans are in for a treat as a team of talented creators manages to bring one of the game's most haunting characters to life with a shockingly effective animatronic. Introduced in the most chapter of Poppy Playtime, DogDay has become somewhat of a fan-favorite character given the horrific circumstances of his existence following the events of The Hour of Joy. His iconic design has earned plenty of praise from the community, with many remarking that he would fit right in with the colorful cast of fellow horror franchise Five Nights at Freddy's.

Posted to X (formerly Twitter) by creators Wicked Makers, the duo spotlighted the creation of their DogDay animatronic, a lengthy process that saw the team 3D-print the character's face, which took over 100 hours, before creating the vertical stage.

A steel pneumatic frame was created used to create the endoskeleton, which was hung in place with various chains and wines given the weight of the massive head. Perhaps most impressive is the massive wall Wicked Makers created that's authentically decorated to look like the cell DogDay is trapped inside within the Playhouse.

The DogDay Animatronic Proved To Be A Real Hit

Even Poppy Playtime's Developers Love It

Wicked Makers conclude their video by showing off the DogDay animatronic in action, demonstrating how it writhes and squirms against its restraints as its eyes creepily light up. The entire build is impressive in its own right but it even managed to catch the attention of Poppy Playtime developer Mob Entertainment who praised the creation, describing it as "beautiful" and noting that creators have outdone themselves again. The community was similarly impressed with many asking whether the DogDay animatronic will eventually be put on display for Halloween.

While DogDay may not be as iconic as Huggy Wuggy, the terrifying plush monster that's often associated with Poppy Playtime, his introduction in Chapter 3: Deep Sleep left a lasting impression on many players. Not only is the lore surrounding his betrayal at the hands of CatNap heartbreaking, but his torture and subsequent death are some of the scariest moments in the whole game. After players find him tied up in a prison cell, the last member of the Smiling Critters is swarmed by Ruined Critters who take control of his mind, turning DogDay into an aggressive enemy.

Given the events of Poppy Playtime's latest chapter, it remains unknown whether DogDay will return in a future installment. The game's community believes him to be dead but given the bizarre nature of the series, it doesn't take much to imagine him returning in some way or another. Until then, fans will just have to create their own animatronic memorial for the fallen Smiling Critter.
