After 35 Years, A Wolverine Mystery is Finally Revealed by X-Men Legend Chris Claremont

Summary Chris Claremont returns to the X-Men's Australian Outback era for Wolverine: Deep Cut after 35 years.

The four-issue miniseries promises "sinister revelations" and a showdown with Sabretooth.

Claremont will finally unveil the mysterious mission Wolverine undertook after leaving the team in 1989.

Legendary X-Men writer Chris Claremont is returning to the team's iconic days in the Australian Outback to reveal a hidden Wolverine story more than 35 years in the making. Claremont will re-team with artist Edgar Salazar for Wolverine: Deep Cut, the latest "retro pick" series exploring untold chapters in Logan's life.

Marvel announced Wolverine: Deep Cut will be a four-issue miniseries by Claremont and Salazar that launches this July as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Wolverine. The limited series will feature "sinister revelations" as well as a claw-to-claw battle with Wolverine's longtime nemesis, Sabretooth.

The story revisits the aftermath of 1989's Uncanny X-Men #246 by Claremont and artist Marc Silvestri. That issue saw Wolverine depart the team to embark on a mysterious mission before returning in the iconic Uncanny X-Men #251. Now, Claremont will reveal exactly what that mysterious mission was.
