Kora and the other rebels continue their fight against the Imperium in an attempt to save Veldt from the encroaching forces of the Motherworld in Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver. After being betrayed by Kai and having her past revealed, Kora is more determined than ever to make up for her past sins. However, as the rebels must step up into their roles as heroes, Kora's past comes back to haunt not just her, but those who stand beside her and the people they are putting their lives on the line to protect.
Zack Snyder delves deeper into the world of his sci-fi epic with Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver as he explores the lore of the Motherworld, Kora's origins, and her relationship with Balisarius. Snyder will also have a director's cut of Rebel Moon hitting Netflix later this year, which will include scenes cut for time or to keep the PG-13 rating. The cast is phenomenal with the villains embodying some of the most terrifyingly evil possibilities of a tyrannical force, while the heroes are driven by different traumas, but tied together by a desire for redemption and a step towards healing.

While Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver is a story of war and rebellion, its heart lies in redemption and healing. The rebels are fighting against the Imperium and Motherworld to make up for their past sins or as a way to honor those that the Motherworld took from them. Each character has a different reason for jumping into this fight, whether it be in the hopes of making up for their past actions or fighting to save a village full of innocents after failing to save their own.
Djimon Hounsou: Redemption sort of seemed to envelop the character of General Titus quite well. I can't say that he was flawless when he was working for the Imperium, and one is to guess that he's committed a number of crimes under that banner. So here's his opportunity to redeem himself and to redeem the past. Elise Duffy: Millius is able to defend a village against the Motherworld and sort of redeem a situation in the past in which they felt totally helpless and saw an end to their home. Staz Nair: I think those things kind of come hand in hand in many ways when we feel like we've redeemed ourselves. We heal our relationship with the past in many ways. I think with redemption, I don't know if he's fully found his redemption, but I think he's found his healing. At the end of the movie he says, When this is over, that's where I'll go. I don't know whether Tarak will feel full redemption until he gets to go back to his home planet and rectify, at least to some extent. He never can. He's lost his family, he's lost everything and the lineage is broken, or not broken, until I return I suppose. But in terms of healing, I think there's a lot of it. And the path to redemption has become a lot more realistic for Tarak by finding this new sense of family, a new sense of home for the first time after, in my head, kind of surfing the outskirts of space, trying to find ways to fill voids. I think the healing is very much there, and it comes from the leadership of Titus and the strength of all these different people coming together for one singular purpose, which is to protect strangers. Peaceful, humble strangers. There's something about that relatable quality that I think makes it easier to heal for Tarak. He definitely lightens up.
Nair shared his excitement about being able to show a lighter side to Tarak in Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver noting that he smiles more in the sequel. While Tarak was able to express a moment of joy in the first moment when reminded of home the sequel offers him more opportunities to step beyond the tragedy of his loss as he begins a path of healing.
Staz Nair: It wasn't intentional, but I was reading the first version. I was like, Other than with the Benu, I don't really see many moments where he would smile. Where it's safe enough to smile, let's say, because the bird represents his home, his familiarity, there's something there. So yes, he does smile a lot more. The moment where I realized you're not drinking and then you slap me in the stomach, that was that. I could tell that was the take where I didn't know it was going to happen. You did it the first time without me knowing. I'm glad they used that one because that completely caught me off guard and it was a really natural moment between us a levity.
Snyder incorporated elements of Hounsou's own culture into his character Titus. This not only helped Hounsou connect with the character but allowed him to represent his culture in a way he hasn't been able to before especially in a large-scale franchise like Rebel Moon.
Djimon Hounsou: This was a beautiful suggestion that I think was a deal breaker. In the sense that when I went for the audition - I mean, to meet Zack and come to find out that I've known Zach for over 30 years. Literally, since I moved to California and he was in film school, I used to go to that film school as a model for those film students. That suggestion, that idea of Zack wanting to incorporate certain aspects of my origin and my culture, was empowering. It was exciting, and I was of course thrilled. I'm hoping that my countryman from the continent of Africa could obviously connect to that moment and invoking the ancestors and trying to empower their force on this journey.
