Every Jedi In Attack Of The Clones' Arena Battle, Ranked By Threat Level
Summary With over 200 Jedi fighting in the Battle of Geonosis, not many made it out, and those who did have an incredible amount of skill and battle threat.
The valiant efforts of the Jedi strike team members in the battle arena speaks to their survival and combat skills, with over two-thirds of them perishing in the unrelenting droid army.
Still, some Jedi are more threatening in battle than others, and those at the top of this list have certainly earned their spots.
The Battle of Geonosis kicked off the Clone Wars in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones with an exciting arena battle that brought over 200 Jedi to the floor, many of whom had never been seen on screen before. This would be the largest military-style deployment of Jedi in the Galactic Republic era, as the galaxy had been at peace for around a thousand years. Obi-Wan’s investigation of the planet Kamino and the ensuing conflict between the Republic and the Separatists would kickstart an entire new age.
The arena battle showcased many Jedi who had yet to be introduced in the story, but it was a great way to show the full force of many Jedi working together in battle. This number of Jedi fighting together hadn’t been seen before, but it was the perfect way to introduce the Clone Wars, which were mentioned in A New Hope in a way that implied a strong Jedi presence. Unfortunately for the Jedi who fight in the arena of Geonosis, the opposing forces are simply overwhelming. Here are those who survived, ranked by their threat level.

18 Jedi Who Die In The Arena
Many Don't Return In Star Wars
Close
Many of the 212 Jedi that make up the Geonosis Strike Team play little to no part in the world of Star Wars outside this mission. They were later identified in companion pieces to the series or mentioned in passing, but went largely unknown for the most part. The deadly arena battle takes the lives of an extraordinary number of Jedi, including these Jedi who have little more than a name in terms of backstory. Unfortunately, these Jedi take last place when it comes to comparing threat levels.

17 Little-Known Jedi Survivors
Lived, But Remain Unknown In Star Wars

These more obscure and unnamed Jedi might have put up a fight in the arena, but the lack of information on them or screentime to view makes it hard to rank their threat level against their peers. Through assorted Star Wars companion pieces, these Jedi are all confirmed to have survived the arena, which speaks to their battle skills. However, with no information proving just what those skills look like, they rank pretty low when it comes to threat levels. Still, it's impressive to be counted among the few survivors.
Alta Ranga Survived Kai Justiss Survived Roan Shryne Survived Eeth Koth Survived Bairdon Jace Survived K'Kruhk Survived Coleman Kcaj Survived Maks Leem Survived Talia Moonseeker Survived T'ra Saa Survived B'dard Tone Survived Echuu Shen-Jon Survived Voolvif Monn Survived Adi Gallia Survived Empatojayos Brand Survived A'Sharad Hett Survived Bant Eerin Survived An'ya Kuro Survived Rana Survived Ranik Solusar Survived Jaizen Suel Survived Siri Tachi Survived
16 Fi-Ek Serch & Joclad Danva
Taken Out Too Soon
The Jedi have a pretty solid reputation for being warriors, so the Jedi Masters who get cut down in battle are ranked much lower than the others. It wasn’t due to lack of skill, but a lack of preparation. The Jedi had been at peace for so long that, even with their training and skill, many of them were simply unprepared for the level of battle that Count Dooku had been building to.
It wasn’t due to lack of skill, but a lack of preparation.
Most of the fallen Jedi in Attack of the Clones were very minor characters with few appearances outside the arena. Joclad Danva might not have much screen time during the arena battle, but as he’s played by Sir Christopher Lee’s fight double, his lightsaber skills are sure to be something to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, he was among the Jedi who appear to have been left on the battlefield.
15 Barriss Offee, Lumas Etima, & Galdos Stouff
Learning From The Masters
Most of the Jedi in the battle arena are Knights, if not full Masters, but several of them brought their Padawans along with them. Among these Padawans are Barriss Offee, who would go on to play a remarkable role in Star Wars: The Clone Wars after she becomes disillusioned with the Jedi’s new roles as soldiers. It’s very likely that such a huge battle and the ensuing military crisis would impact many Padawans’ views of the Jedi Order.
Many of the older Padawans who perform well in this incredibly overwhelming situation are given Knighthood a little bit early, with the arena battle counting towards the Trials needed to be passed before that milestone. Anakin was one of these Padawans, as Anakin would become a Knight by the time he made his next appearance. Other apprentices were far less lucky. Tan Yuster, the Padawan of Jedi Master Agen Kolar, sadly doesn’t make it through the battle.
14 Aayla Secura, Ki-Adi-Mundi, & Stass Allie
A Good Effort, But Spent Most Of The Time Captured
Close
Several of the Jedi that made it into the arena battle end up getting captured by the droid army. While this is better than getting killed, being held hostage by an onslaught of droids is far from impressive for such highly trained Jedi. Their survival, however, allowed each of them to have remarkable careers in the ensuing Clone Wars as generals until their tragic deaths during Order 66.
Despite their capture, these Jedi did at least get a chance to show off their skills and incredible character design. The bulk of their action is in the background of the arena scenes, but they’re easy to spot. Jedi Master Aayla Secura has a short bit of screentime in the arena that shows off some particularly pretty impressive battle action before she gets captured.
13 Coleman Trebor
The Near-Savior Of The Clone Wars
One of the earliest casualties of the Attack of the Clones arena battle, Coleman Trebor was shot and killed by Jango Fett on his way to attack Count Dooku. Coleman Trebor had a remarkably powerful Force power which allowed him to achieve highly efficient stealth maneuvers. He used this ability to get incredibly close to Count Dooku early on in the battle, and was almost able to take him out.
Unfortunately, Jango Fett surprised Master Trebor right as he was confronting Dooku and cut the interaction short with a series of shots from his blaster. Still, Coleman Trebor was bold enough to make a move on Count Dooku, which would have been a complete game changer in the Clone Wars had he been successful. As far as threat levels go, he had a lot more to offer before his premature death.
12 Yoda
To The Rescue (Late)
Close
Yoda shows many times throughout the Star Wars prequel trilogy that he has the physical capability to best just about any opponent. He’s known for his power in the Force, but Attack of the Clones gives the first real look at his battle skills. Unfortunately for all the Jedi in the arena battle, Yoda doesn’t show up until the action is coming to an end. Giving the order to protect the survivors, Yoda moves his attention to Count Dooku.
If not for Yoda’s intervention, Obi-Wan and Anakin would probably not have survived to see the end of the battle.
Yoda does definitely give Count Dooku quite the run for his money, and it’s an impressive display of skill. In fact, if not for Yoda’s intervention, Obi-Wan and Anakin would probably not have survived to see the end of the battle. Still, his late arrival to the fight makes him seem like less of a threat in this battle than he probably should be.
11 Pablo-Jill, Sarissa Jeng, Tarados Gon, Bultar Swan, Que-Mars Redath-Gom, Ekim Ryelli, Sora Bulq, Alta Ranga, & Quinlan Vos
A Valiant Effort
It’s hard to rank much of the battle arena’s strike team due to their short amount of screen time. Without a real chance to show off their skills, their survival alone speaks for itself. Over two thirds of the original team of 212 Jedi are killed in the unrelenting droid army, and only the most skilled Jedi would live to fight in the Clone Wars that have been brewing all that time.
Jedi Masters Pablo-Jill, Sarissa Jeng, Tarados Gon, Bultar Swan, Que-Mars Redath-Gom, Ekim Ryelli, Sora Bulq, and Quinlan Vos are all confirmed to survive the battle and make it up to the rescue ship brought by Yoda. Once the newly-deployed clone troopers enter the fray, things balance out, but up until that point, the Jedi have been relying on skill alone to make it out of the arena alive.
10 Sephjet Josall & Nicanas Tassu
Weapon Providers
These two Jedi Masters might not have much time showing off their combat skills on screen, but they are each confirmed to do two pretty important things: survive the arena battle, and deliver their extra lightsabers to Obi-Wan and Anakin. Obi-Wan had been disarmed prior to his capture, and Anakin’s lightsaber was destroyed on his way to rescue his Master. Had the two of them remained unarmed, their chances in the arena would have been drastically reduced.
Everything accomplished by Anakin and Obi-Wan after receiving their replacement lightsabers is totally thanks to Masters Sephjet and Nicanas. They might not have gone on to take out Count Dooku, but they gave Yoda time to intercept him. Luckily, the two good Jedi Samaritans had their own lightsabers to fight with, and they both survive the deadly battle.
9 Agen Kolar & Saesee Tinn
Future Palpatine Strike Team
Your browser does not support the video tag.
Agen Kolar and Saesee Tinn are two of the Jedi Masters who would later accompany Mace Windu to confront Emperor Palpatine about his true identity. Though that mission would be remarkably unsuccessful, with both Masters being cut down almost immediately along with Kit Fisto, it speaks highly of their combat skills if they were who Mace Windu wanted with him as backup for such an incredibly dangerous and important mission. Those combat skills are undoubtedly the reason for their survival in the Geonosis arena.
Both Master Kolar and Master Tinn are shown in only fleeting shots during the arena battle on Geonosis, but they can be seen in the background holding their own. Their survival and future as Mace Windu’s trusted backup team fill in the blanks left by their on-screen appearances during the arena. These Jedi were certainly able to pose a threat to the droid army during their time on Geonosis.

8 Luminara Unduli
Barriss Offee’s Master
Close
Luminara Unduli is another Jedi Master who becomes a much more well-known character after Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Luminara survives the initial wave of droid attacks and lives to be rounded up with the other Jedi who were still alive. Prepared to die fighting in that ring of survivors, Luminara is shown defiantly raising her lightsaber just as Dooku gives the order for the remaining Jedi to be shot down.
Luminara is shown defiantly raising her lightsaber just as Dooku gives the order for the remaining Jedi to be shot down.
Luckily, the clone army comes to the rescue before any further casualties can happen, and Luminara is spared with the other survivors. She goes on to become an effective general in the Clone Wars. She would sadly perish along with so many other Jedi in Order 66, though rumors of her survival would be weaponized by the Empire in attempts to trap any remaining Jedi.
7 Shaak Ti
The Future Clone Trooper Expert
Close
Master Shaak Ti is a powerful Jedi who shows up time and time again in the background of Star Wars. She’s highly skilled in combat, and once the Clone Wars get started, she acts as the Jedi’s representative to the planet of Kamino, where the clone army was being produced. She’s one of the few Jedi to survive the arena, a testament to her combat skills as well as her wisdom and devotion to the Jedi way of life.
As the Jedi’s main connection to the Kaminoan cloners, Shaak Ti was one of the first Jedi to hear whispers of the existence of the clones’ inhibitor chips that would one day cause them to turn on their Jedi generals during Order 66. Unfortunately, she is unable to get to the bottom of the conspiracy before the clone trooper Fives dies without sharing his intel.
6 Even Piell
An Invaluable Clone Wars General
Master Even Piell was present during the Naboo Crisis, and his recognizable character design is easy to spot when he reappears as a member of the Jedi’s strike team. He is known for his shrewd and rather harsh attitude toward his military missions, favoring efficiency over anything else. His aggression is undoubtedly to thank for his survival in the arena of Geonosis.
His future as a commander in the Clone Wars is no surprise, and he devotes himself fully to the protection of the Republic. When he considered that his knowledge of the Nexus Route would be a potential danger if it fell into the hands of the Separatists, he committed the information to memory and took steps to ensure the enemy wouldn’t be able to access it even under threat of torture. This proves just how much strength Even Piell possessed, not just physically but also mentally.
5 Plo Koon
Ahsoka’s Trusted Mentor
Close
Jedi Master Plo Koon proves to be one of the more impactful and powerful of the Jedi behind the scenes of Star Wars. He briefly appeared in Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, and his incredible character design inspired further elaboration of his story. Though he doesn’t get much time to show off during the arena battle, Plo Koon is later revealed to be one of the Jedi’s wisest leaders and most talented pilots.
His incredibly tender mentorship of Ahsoka Tano highlights Plo Koon’s gentle side, which makes his efficiency in battle even more striking. Plo Koon would make several appearances in Star Wars: The Clone Wars as a Jedi general in the Republic Army. His survival in the arena paired with the skills he shows during the following war imply that he was probably doing pretty well while he fought off-screen.
4 Anakin Skywalker
Earning His Knighthood
Close
Even though Anakin is only a Padawan during the Battle of Geonosis, he has always displayed an exorbitant level of skill in battle. Coupled with his incredible recklessness, Anakin’s skill with a lightsaber echoes that of a much more experienced Jedi. In the Battle of Geonosis, he is driven by his desire to both prove himself to the other Jedi Masters and to protect Padmé, two things that are always sure to kick his aggression into high gear.
Anakin fights in the arena much longer than the other Jedi Masters who come to the rescue of him and Obi-Wan, making his ability to not only stay alive but to take down so many opponents very impressive. Of course, shortly after the arena battle, he would lose an arm to Count Dooku. He did very well up until that point in the arena battle, however.
3 Obi-Wan Kenobi
Acklay Slayer
Despite his preference for diplomacy, Obi-Wan is never one to shy away from using his lightsaber skills. As one of the first Jedi in the arena, albeit as a prisoner rather than one of the reinforcements, Obi-Wan cuts down his enemies with incredible accuracy. In one particularly impressive move, Obi-Wan kills the Acklay, one of the monstrous beasts that roam the gladiator-style arena that was initially meant to eat him along with Anakin and Padmé prior to their rescue.
Obi-Wan cuts down his enemies with incredible accuracy.
Unfortunately, once Obi-Wan shifts his attention away from the arena battle to deal with Count Dooku, his luck runs out, and he’s quickly wounded and knocked unconscious. Still, he survives the actual arena with some very impressive moves. He gets a good amount of screen time, all of which does a great job highlighting Obi-Wan’s skills.
2 Kit Fisto
Enjoying Every Minute Of The Fight
Best known for the gleeful look that he shoots across the battlefield on his way to join in on the battle, Kit Fisto is known as an exceptional swordsman and talented in battle. Even in a time of relative peace for the Jedi, Master Fisto’s competency with a lightsaber seems to speak for itself. It’s no wonder he had such success in the arena of Geonosis.
Kit Fisto had the pleasure of fighting C-3PO in a humorous exchange that featured the protocol droid’s profuse apologies, which provided Master Fisto with a bit more screen time than many other Jedi. Coupled with the ever-present smile on his character design, the Nautolan Jedi has become one of the more recognizable background characters of the Star Wars prequels. Reappearing in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Master Fisto continues to bring the heat in the fight against the Separatists.
1 Mace Windu
MVP Of The Battle Arena
Your browser does not support the video tag.
The undisputed top of this list goes to Master Mace Windu. Known as the Jedi’s strongest warrior, Mace’s skill with a lightsaber is unmatched. He more than holds his own against the relentless waves of droid soldiers, taking out droids as well as beasts that get in his way. Mace Windu is the Jedi who takes out Jango Fett, the bounty hunter who served as the genetic base for all the clone troopers. Jango Fett had a remarkable way of achieving his kills despite his opponents' own skills.
In fact, until Mace’s intervention, Fett is the reason for so many of the Jedi’s casualties and would certainly have killed more Jedi if he had survived. Unfortunately, Jango’s young son Boba was watching from the shadows, and devotes his life to eliminating the Jedi and Mace Windu in particular. His small appearance in Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones would prove to be incredibly impactful on the Star Wars story as a whole.
