The Godlike Mr. Mxyzptlk is Afraid of Batman

The Fifth Dimension is a world filled with whimsy and wonder and populated by thousands of imps, many of whom are huge fans of the DC Universe's heroes. However, despite Mr. Mxyzptlk assembling a 'Just-Us League' of imps, nearly every fantastic being was brutally slaughtered by demons modeled after the DCU's worst villains. The squad was led by a mysterious hooded figure, who swore to take his mission to Earth. Mr. Mxyzptlk and Bat-Mite exited the Fifth Dimension and found Batman and Superman, telling them that the Earth and the entire Third Dimension were in serious danger.

Fifth-Dimensional beings like Mxyzptlk can do anything they desire in the Third Dimension, including warping reality. Mxyzptlk has also gone up against Superman dozens of times and has never been afraid to cross the man who's also considered to be a god by many. However, something about Batman seriously perturbs Mxyzptlk. Just one scowl from the Caped Crusader is enough to turn Mxyzptlk from an obnoxious pest to a cowering wretch. Mxyzptlk might know that Batman isn't as powerful as Superman, but the imp is also aware that Batman always finds a way to get things done.

Mxyzptlk Knows Batman Doesn't Play Around

There's no question that Mr. Mxyzptlk is more powerful than Batman. However, Mxyzptlk knows just how determined Batman is (both from Mxyzptlk's observations and Bat-Mite's endless praise of the Dark Knight). The imp is probably well aware that if Batman really wanted to, he could make a Fifth-Dimensional imp suffer. Batman's the man who managed to defeat Darkside in Final Crisis, how much harder could it be to defeat an imp? Of course, Bruce would never seriously hurt someone like Mxyzptlk. But Superman's foe knows that the Justice League's Batman could easily make Mxyzptlk's life hell if Bruce wanted to.
