Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 16, 2024 (Puzzle #309)

Connections is a word-matching game that tasks players with aligning sixteen different words into four groups. Each group contains four different words that somehow have a connection between them. This is one of the newer ones that came from the Wordle popularity boom and has made a name for itself as one of the most enjoyable one-a-day games.

Oftentimes the game will use little tricks to force players into wasting their attempts. Placing certain words next to each other could have your brain making incorrect connections. Once a theme locks on, even if it's incorrect, it's hard to let go. Luckily, we've provided the category hints below, as well as the fully spoiled answers at the end.

FLABBERGAST FLOOR ROCK SHOCK SUPRISE

Today's yellow category was our third to solve, and we were just flabbergasted that it took so long. SHOCK and ROCK were the first connection that we noticed, but that was simply for rhyming reasons. Eventually, with only eight words left, we noticed the trend and nailed in the win.

BIT OF JOURNALISM ARTICLE FEATURE REPORT STORY

As would be expected, we solved the green category first in today's game. FEATURE and ARTICLE are two words we say, at least, twelve times a day so they stood out to us quite quickly. Attempting to make other connections, STORY came next, and then finally REPORT. A solid start to our day.

Blue Answers: Revealed & Explained

ON THE SAME PLANE EVEN FLAT FLUSH LEVEL

Blue had our leftover words for the day, and there's really no reason why. This isn't a particularly difficult category, we just didn't quite catch on to these words as well as we did the others. EVEN and LEVEL are the obvious attention-grabbers, but all four could be considered starters for this easy connection.

THEATER SECTIONS BALCONY BOX ORCHESTRA STAGE

Our second score for the day was today's "trickiest" category. We immediately noticed ORCHESTRA and STAGE which quickly led to the victory. FLOOR did trick us a bit at first and we wasted an attempt making an incorrect guess, but it was overall a solid win with very few misses.

We do love the theater, the last play we went to see was Chicago at the Bass Hall. They politely asked us to leave after I scream/sang every song in the first 30 minutes. Honestly, I think they were jealous because I am just that good. If you'd have been there, if you'd have seen it, I bet you would have done the same.

Other Games Like Connections

You know how some people have these little habits that get you down? Like Bernie. Bernie liked to solve the daily Connections without me. No, not solve. CHEAT. So I come home from work one night and I'm real irritated, and I'm looking to relax and play Connections. And there's Bernie, lying on the couch, drinking a beer and solving. No, not solving. CHEATING at Connections. So I said "If you cheat at Connections one more time..." And he did. So I took the shotgun off the wall and fired two warning shots... into his head.

Then I checked out some of these other browser-based games, and I felt better. Honestly, he had it coming.
