F1 24 Release Date, New Drivers, Pre-Order Bonuses, Editions, & Gameplay Details
Summary F1 24 will be released cross-generationally like its predecessors.
There are no new drivers in F1 24, but there are some new team names, as well as new liveries from McLaren, Williams, Alpine, and Haas.
F1 24 offers Standard and Champions Editions, with perks like extra PitCoin, unique liveries, and early access.
The next installment in Formula One video games, F1 24, finally has a release date. Annual racing simulation games licensed by F1 have a decades-long history, beginning with F1 2000 for the original PlayStation, and officially annual since 2009. F1 dropped the "20" from its titles beginning in 2022, and each yearly entry since then has simply been referred to by the latter two numbers of the relevant year.
F1 is the premier class of auto racing, and the video games based on it follow suit. They're known for visuals, accurate controls, and steep difficulty curves - although F1 23's Braking Point campaign mode made the game much easier for newcomers to learn. With several prominent F1 drivers elevated to international fame in recent years, F1 24 is also filled with star power. Players can take control of their favorite drivers, join (or manage) their favorite teams, and test their favorite tracks. Here's everything to expect from F1 24: its release date, its new additions, and its pre-order bonuses.

When Does F1 24 Come Out?
F1 24 will be released on May 31, 2024, just three months after its official announcement in late February. It'll be available on Windows PCs, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S, much like F1 23 before it. However, while F1 23 was eventually also added to Game Pass via cloud gaming, there's no word on whether F1 24 will follow suit.
On PC, F1 24 is available for purchase through Steam, the Epic Games Store, or the EA App.
There's just one exception to the rule, however: The Champions Edition of F1 24 provides players with three days' worth of early access, so that edition will technically be released on May 28. For more on the Champions Edition of F1 24 and what it contains, see the editions section below.
F1 24: New Drivers, Liveries, & Teams
Are There Any New Drivers In F1 24?
Simply put, there are no new drivers in F1 24 who didn't appear in F1 23, but there are two teams under new names: Stake F1 and Visa Cash App RB. This is because the Formula One landscape has seen very few changes in the past year. The driver line-up is pretty much exactly the same as it was, but there are two teams with new ownership making their F1 debut in 2024. The video game adaptation inevitably reflects that.
Stake F1 was formerly known as Stauber, and Visa Cash App RB as Red Bull.
As a result, there should be next to no change in F1 24's roster compared to F1 23. The only new driver will be the player's custom character and their custom-tuned F1 setup.

However, various teams will debut their new liveries in F1 24. Players who pre-order the Champions Edition will receive early access to the new McLaren, Williams, Alpine, and Haas team liveries for 2024, as well as a pair of unique McLaren and Alpine esports liveries.

What Editions Does F1 24 Come In, And How Much Do They Cost?
Close
F1 24 only comes in two editions: the Standard Edition and the Champions Edition, which is the more complete release. The Standard Edition is the least expensive, but also comes with the fewest bonuses. It costs $69.99 USD across all platforms, but subscribers to EA Play can receive a 10% discount. The Standard Edition of F1 24 includes the base game and, if pre-ordered, 5,000 PitCoin and an F1 World Starter Pack. PitCoin is a virtual currency; it can be used either to purchase in-game items, or to access the VIP tier of the Podium Pass, F1's seasonal rewards scheme.
Players who own F1 21, 22, or 23 on the same platform can receive a 15% discount on F1 24.
It's unknown exactly what the World Starter Pack contains, but it uses similar graphics and terminology to F1 23's World Bumper Pack. This gives players a starting XP boost in F1 World mode, so the World Starter Pack will probably work similarly.
As for the Champions Edition, it costs $89.99 across all platforms. It includes the base game and F1 World Starter Pack as outlined above, along with 18,000 PitCoin. But pre-order purchasers will also gain instant access to the VIP tier of the Podium Pass, as well as a Pro-tier subscription to the official Formula One streaming service, F1 TV. They'll also receive two playable Icons for F1 24's My Team career mode.

Pre-ordering the Champions Edition of F1 24 gives players three days of early access to the game, during which there will be special, timed events with unique rewards. And for those who get their pre-orders in by April 24, they'll also be the first players able to customize their cars with the McLaren, Williams, Alpine, and Haas 2024 liveries, as well as the unique McLaren and Alpine esports liveries. These will be temporarily playable in F1 23's Time Trial mode until F1 24 launches fully on May 31.
F1 24: Gameplay Details & New Features
What's The Difference Between F1 23 & F1 24?
But despite their similar rosters, there will be some pretty significant gameplay differences between F1 23 and F1 24. For one thing, Career Mode is getting a complete overhaul. It's unknown exactly what will change and what will remain the same, but players can probably expect a new storyline and some new features. This may be an attempt to address criticism of previous games' Braking Point Career Modes, which, while newbie-friendly, were overly easy and repetitive for veteran players.
Besides that, F1 24 will also include updated, more realistic driving controls, termed Dynamic Handling. It's unknown exactly how this works or how it's different from F1 23, but it promises greater realism alongside increased viability for a wider variety of driving styles.
Beyond that, though, there shouldn't be many changes to F1 24's visuals or gameplay. Since it's releasing cross-generationally like F1 23, there's little likelihood of a new graphical engine or any major technical improvements that would require higher specs. Apart from the revamped Career Mode and updated driving controls, players can expect the same familiar racing gameplay they've come to expect from the series in F1 24.
