Good Omens creator Neil Gaiman has offered a filming update for season 3, signaling the next episodes of the anticipated Prime Video series may not arrive for quite some time. The series focuses on the relationship between the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley as the pair try to stop the apocalypse from transpiring. Season 2 mostly focused on the duo's relationship, ending with their realization they had feelings for each other - just before they part ways as Aziraphale goes back to Heaven.

Speaking with Deadline, Gaiman seemingly confirmed that Good Omens season 3 won't be starting filming until next year, signaling a long wait for the show's final episodes. The author and series creator said, "I’m writing Good Omens Season 3, and we start shooting that in January," meaning the series won't start production until the beginning of 2025. This means it will be an even longer amount of time from that production start date until Aziraphale and Crowley's final adventure begins.

How Long Will Good Omens Season 3 Take To Get Released?

Good Omens season 2 ended with the Metatron recruiting Aziraphale for the next apocalypse, the Second Coming. In the meantime, Crowley has come to terms with the fact he’s in love with the positive angel, but goes his own way due to his distrust of Heaven. This sets the stage for season 3, which will see the angel begrudgingly working to bring about the apocalypse, no doubt making the demon feel like he needs to stop him.

Since filming for the show isn’t going to start until early 2025, it confirms new episodes aren’t going to be coming out for quite a long time. Since the upcoming season will feature a storyline no doubt similar to season 1, filming may take just as long. Season 1 was filmed from mid-September 2017 to early March 2018, before the full season was released on Prime Video in May 2019, over a year after filming ended. If a similar production schedule befalls season 3, Good Omens may not return until 2026 at the earliest.

While the wait for the final season may take another few years, the high quality of the series so far proves how important that time spent perfecting the show is. Even though this means the Good Omens timeline won't be further fleshed out for a long time, the fact the series isn't rushing into season 3 means there will be time to ensure everything wraps up in a satisfying way by the end.
