Star Wars Outlaws Will Not Include One Of The Galaxy's Coolest Characters

Summary Secret cameos are confirmed in Star Wars Outlaws, but fan-favorite Boba Fett may be missing from the game.

The original story follows scoundrel Kay Vess and her crew planning a massive heist in the galaxy.

Players will encounter familiar faces like Jabba the Hutt and Lady Qi'ra in the game.

The developers of Star Wars Outlaws have confirmed that there are some secret cameos in the game but one of the franchise's most beloved (and coolest) characters may not show up at all. Spinning an original tale that follows scoundrel Kay Vess and her allies as she plans one of the biggest heists the galaxy has ever seen. Along their journey, they'll cross paths with some faces new and familiar but one particularly deadly bounty who is known for causing trouble is unlikely to make an appearance in Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment's game.

Speaking to Game Informer, creative director Julian Gerighty explained that most of the assassins and bounty hunters players will encounter "are ones that we created specifically for the game" so it sounds unlikely that Boba Fett, who is widely regarded as one of the coolest characters in Star Wars, will make an appearance.

Gerighty does elaborate that some of the characters who appear will please fans of both "classic" Star Wars and the newer movies. The extent of the cameos is still unclear but the community is no doubt mourning the lack of Boba Fett, especially given how well the bounty hunter fits into a scoundrel story.

Who Will Appear In Star Wars Outlaws?

Kay Vess Will Encounter Some Recognizable Villains

Based on the trailers for Outlaws, players will encounter crime lord and Star Wars icon Jabba the Hutt, one of the most widely-known characters both inside and outside of the franchise. Aside from the villainous slug alien, players will also come into contact with Lady Qi'ra, another crime lord who rose to prominence during the reign of The Empire and first appeared in the spinoff movie Solo: A Star Wars Story before going on to star in several novels and comic books. How she factors into the story is still unknown.

While Massive Entertainment insists that most of the bounty hunters and assassins that appear in Star Wars Outlaws are original to the studio, it's entirely possible that the developer is trying to throw fans off. Boba Fett isn't a necessary addition to a game about criminals in the galaxy far, far away but given that he's likely operating as one of the most efficient hired killers in The Empire at this point in the saga, it makes sense that he'd be employed to track down Kay Vess. Perhaps he'd even need to compete with new bounty hunter Vail, who is introduced in one of the game's trailers.

Whether or not Star Wars Outlaws does feature Boba Fett, it's still refreshing to see the game do something a little different with the license. Massive Entertainment insists its title is the first truly open-world Star Wars game as Kay Vess is able to travel around the galaxy and do what she can to dismantle The Empire and build a crew of capable thieves. The game is set to release on August 30 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.
