"It's Beyond Me": Zendaya Opens Up About Euphoria Season 3 Delay
Summary Zendaya is unsure about Euphoria season 3 happening, revealing the decision is "beyond me."
The delay in Euphoria's return makes it unclear if season 3 will ever happen at all.
Coordinating season 3 will be a challenge due to the cast's busy schedules.
Euphoria actress Zendaya has no idea whether the hit HBO show that catapulted her to stardom will return for season 3. Euphoria season 2 closed with a cliffhanger ending that increased anticipation for the new season, and things were looking good after HBO renewed Euphoria in February 2022. However, there have been several delays since, with HBO confirming in March that it was freeing up the cast members to work on other projects for the rest of 2024.
Zendaya opened up about Euphoria's future in a red carpet interview with Variety. There for her new movie Challengers, the two-time Emmy winner revealed she is "not in charge" of whether season 3 happens. Read Zendaya's full comments below:

Will Euphoria Season 3 Ever Happen?
The Teen Drama Has Been Plagued By Off-Set Problems
Unfortunately, this is not the positive update viewers will have been hoping for. With every passing month, Euphoria season 3 becomes less likely, especially with the exploding careers of many of the cast members, namely Zendaya and Sydney Sweeney. Coordinating season 3 is going to come with many challenges, including bringing all the actors together on the same schedule, and being able to ensure the scripts are of sufficient quality.
If Euphoria does return, it will almost certainly be for the show's final season, adding to the pressure of making the scripts the best they can be.
In the two years since season 2 ended, Euphoria has had to contend with the dual strikes and the tragic passing of star Angus Cloud. However, the most recent delay is due to differing opinions about season 3's creative direction, with showrunner Sam Levinson, Zendaya (who is an executive producer), and HBO having different ideas about where the storylines should go. If Euphoria does return, it will almost certainly be for the show's final season, adding to the pressure of making the scripts the best they can be.
While Zendaya's comments suggest she's still committed to Euphoria season 3, provided the storylines do the characters justice, she may be running out of patience with the delay. HBO is taking a risk by pushing season 3 back even further, as there may come a time when all involved decide it's easier to leave the show where it is and move on to other opportunities. How much longer HBO can delay the series is unclear, but it seems likely the scripts and schedule would need to be sorted out by the end of this year for there to be any hope for Euphoria season 3.
Euphoria seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Max.
