Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Player Finds Hilarious Glitch During Intense Story Moment

Summary A lava glitch adds unexpected humor during an intense story moment in Spider-Man 2.

Spider-Man can bounce on lava during a daring escape sequence.

This glitch lightens the mood during the dark Kraven's Last Hunt story, but won't affect overall gameplay.

A Marvel's Spider-Man 2 player has found an amusing glitch during one of the game's more serious story moments. While Insomniac's Marvel's Spider-Man games have not been afraid to shy away from more serious topics and intense moments with the fates of major characters, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was significantly darker than its predecessor due to its take on Kraven's Last Hunt and the arrival of Venom.

In a video uploaded to Reddit, BagOfSmallerBags demonstrates one of the game's glitches, which sees Peter Parker's Spider-Man - in the Spider-Punk suit - bouncing on a stream of lava.

BagOfSmallerBags claims that they put their controller down during a cutscene, and as gameplay resumed, they found the entertaining glitch.

The Bouncing Lava Glitch Appeared During One Of Spider-Man 2's More Intense Story Moments

During A Daring Escape From One Of Kraven's Lairs

The "bouncing lava" glitch occurred during one of Marvel's Spider-Man 2's more intense story moments, as Peter and a symbiote-powered Harry Osborn - who resembles Agent Venom from the comics at this time - try to break a reformed supervillain, Tombstone out of one of Kraven's lairs. Throughout the game, Kraven has been hunting several superpowered individuals, seeking a "worthy prey" as part of his "Great Hunt", resulting in the shocking deaths of many of Spider-Man's classic rogues gallery.

After kidnapping him at Coney Island, Kraven's hunters lock Tombstone up in a Steel Mill, with molten metal and fire in nearly every direction. In the story, this serves the purpose of letting long-time Venom fans know that this version of the symbiote isn't impacted by fire, which is a departure from its counterpart in other media, but it also makes for a far more intimidating environment overall as the heroes traverse it looking for a way to escape as the facility begins to burn down.

Of course, knowing there's the possibility that Spider-Man can't die if he touches the molten streams below does remove some of the tension somewhat, as the idea of him bouncing on it as if it were a trampoline does add an unexpected element of humor to the level. Fortunately, most Marvel's Spider-Man 2 players will miss this entirely, as the fast-paced sequence does push them to the finish line rather quickly, so it shouldn't impact the experience too much.
