Stardew Valley's Fishing Is Now A Lot Easier Thanks To Simple Change

Summary A new mod makes fishing in Stardew Valley easier by automatically reeling in fish, removing the struggle for players of all skill levels.

Fishing in Stardew Valley can be challenging for new players, but mods like "Auto Catch" make it more accessible and enjoyable.

The community continues to debate on the fishing difficulty in Stardew Valley.

Stardew Valley players struggling to make a living off of fishing are in luck because the notoriously tricky mini-game just became significantly easier thanks to a new mod that removes the struggle of reeling in a catch. One of the core pillars of the beloved farming RPG is spending dozens of in-game hours fishing the bodies of water scattered around Pelican Town and while veterans of the game have no doubt figured out the deceptively tricky process of landing the catch, it remains a challenge for others. Fortunately, those who battle need not fear any longer.

Posted to Nexus Mods by creator MercuryVN, the "Auto Catch" mod does exactly what its title suggests by simply automatically reeling in any fish (or debris) the farmer manages to hook. While it doesn't outright skip the entire mini-game, it simply ensures that whatever fish bites is eventually reeled into players' hands, making the activity much faster and more accessible for all skill levels. MercuryVN notes that while there are plenty of mods dedicated to fishing in Stardew Valley, they wanted to create one that's easier to use and isn't bogged down by a plethora of options and extra add-ons.

Fishing In Stardew Valley Can Be A Pain

Many Will Get Away When Playing For The First Time

While fishing, like all of the various activities on offer in Stardew Valley, becomes easier over time due to mechanical progression and good, old-fashioned practice, it can be a brutal introduction for many new players. The mini-game of controlling a bar to ensure it hovers over an erratically moving fish can be challenging for more casual players and downright inaccessible for those who aren't able to use fine motor muscle movements. Installing a mod that removes the stress and allows users to see everything the game has to offer is no doubt an exciting prospect.

Stardew Valley has 70 fish for players to catch, five of which are Legendary Fish.

Ever since Stardew Valley launched in 2016 the topic of the fishing mini-game has been debated amongst the community as the player base is torn on whether or not it's too difficult. Some insist that the reflex-focused activity that relies heavily on hand-eye coordination doesn't fit in with the game itself given that no other task requires a similar system. Others believe those who struggle simply need to practice and upgrade the fishing rod to improve its area of effectiveness.

While the Stardew Valley community may still be locked into a fierce argument regarding the difficulty of fishing, it's good to know that modders are creating options to make the game accessible for everyone. It's also a possibility that developer ConcernedApe is aware of the complaints and is working on a fix to accommodate all players. The farming RPG is often viewed as one of the most relaxing and stress-free games on the market and trying to successfully land one of the Legendary Fish, while satisfying, can be a little too frustrating at times.
