Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 18, 2024 (Puzzle #311)

Connections is one of the best one-a-day puzzle games out and today's category choices are a fun bunch. The game is definitely trying to trick us players today with some pop-culture references and notable movie and television titles. One show does actually make it into the correct answer slot, but it's not as obvious as it seems.

Before starting any game of Connections you should always hit that 'shuffle' button a few times to mix up the words right away. Oftentimes, the game will place words next to each other in an attempt to trick your brain into thinking they go together. Utilizing this simple tool helps solve that problem right away, you may still notice an incorrect connection, but it won't be thrust into your brain on purpose.

Yellow Answers: Revealed & Explained

SIDEWALK SIGHTS CURB GRATE GUTTER MANHOLE

There are quite a few Television references in today's collection of words, including CURB which is often used to abbreviate Curb Your Enthusiasm. OZ is another one, perhaps referencing the 1997 drama of the same name, or maybe the Wizard of Oz.

Luckily it didn't distract us too much and we were able to connect GUTTER and CURB to find the correct answers for the yellow category. MANHOLE and GRATE followed quickly behind and we scored this category in first place today.

HAVE IN MIND AIM INTEND MEAN PLAN

When our game of Connections started today MEAN and GIRLS were right next to each other. An obvious plant but it still had us looking for other movie tie-ins. Other than the aforementioned OX, nothing else really fit this theme so we were able to drop it pretty quickly. AIM and INTEND did the heavy lifting here and pushed us toward the correct green answers, which we scored in second place today. You go Glen Coco!

UNIT ABBREVIATIONS CAL GAL IN OZ

Once there were only eight words left to choose from it was a quick score to see these unit abbreviations. OZ and GAL were the first two to catch our eye and the others followed quickly behind leaving us with only purple words left, and a win.

Yes, the Golden GIRLS is an actual show reference used in today's game which is full of media misdirection. Arguably the best show of them all, Larry David is a funny guy, but no one compares to the sly wit of Rue McClanahan.
