Hidden Animal Crossing Detail May Explain A Huge New Horizons Exclusion
Summary Gracie's exclusion from Animal Crossing: New Horizons may be due to her snobby attitude.
Fans creatively deal with disliked villagers, showcasing a love/hate relationship within the Animal Crossing community.
Gracie's character may be too snobby for the dirty island's players start out with.
A hidden detail explains why one especially snobby character might have been excluded from Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Animal Crossing villagers are a major factor in the game, and the character that arrives in a player's tent can make or break the vision someone might have for their island. Fans have gotten really creative when it comes to dealing with hated villagers, some even making an entire island full of ugly Animal Crossing characters. The treatment of a villager can turn their mood sour, but sometimes, characters come to the island with bad attitudes.
Though there were a lot of characters in New Horizons, some classics were left off of the roster. One villager that was missing from the lineup is the fashionable giraffe Gracie, but Reddit user mangst33n unearthed some correspondence that might offer a reason as to why.
The letter mangst33n shared shows Gracie being unnecessarily rude to the player about their fashion choices, calling them a "fashion wannabe." Some comments believe that Gracie's snobby preferences might be exactly why she hasn't shown up on anyone's islands in New Horizons.

Gracie Is Just Too Snobby to Be a New Horizons Villager
Not Easy To Warm Up To
Gracie was available in all the past versions of Animal Crossing, but didn't make a full appearance in New Horizons until a much later update. One comment mentions that if it took KK Slider 3 Stars to impress, Gracie would need the highest possible rating and then some in order to be encouraged to come check it out, a big difference from the Horizon's nicest villagers. If she was quick to call out that Wild World player on their fashion sense, of course she'd be wary about visiting a dirty island that she'd never heard of.

Some players note that they miss Gracie's presence in the game, and while Gracie can be invited to The Roost and seen in Happy Home Paradise via an amiibo, she's not available as a villager players can have on their island. It makes sense that she wouldn't want to live there or even visit in the first place. Her snobby ways and bad attitude was perfectly aligned with how rude Animal Crossing villagers used to be, but the island doesn't seem to fit in with what she'd like.
Regardless of Gracie's feelings about the islands, there are still many other villagers players can invite to live with them. The love/hate relationship some characters receive continues to be an entertaining part of the Animal Crossing community and open up a lot of creative ways players can harass their villagers until they leave. With Gracie's bad attitude towards the player, it's likely she'd face the same treatment as some of the most hated New Horizons villagers, even if she was included in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
