Married At First Sight: What Happened To Brennan Shoykhet After Season 17?

Summary Brennan and Emily's marriage ended due to lack of honesty and compatibility, leading to a difficult breakup after appearing promising at first.

Brennan's journey on MAFS saw a change in his attraction to Emily, leading to hurtful accusations and ending with a decision to move on.

Brennan Shoykhet and Emily Balch chose to divorce, and it's time to catch up with the star of one of the best reality TV shows after Married At First Sight season 17 ended. Emily is getting slammed for being mean as the reunion unfolds, as she initially appeared as a friendly and fun individual. Despite Emily's lack of relationship experience, Brennan was not deterred, and they seemed to hit it off well, sharing chemistry and similar life goals during their honeymoon. However, Brennan abruptly declared that he had lost all attraction to Emily upon returning from their honeymoon.

Brennan and Emily weren't the only explosive couple on Married At First Sight season 17. There were many shocking moments throughout Married at First Sight season 17, including Michael's runaway bride, Lauren's racist comments toward Orion, and Becca and Austin's religious debacle. The upcoming Married at First Sight season 18 has to step it up after such a disastrous season. While Brennan's commentary that he was no longer attracted to Emily could be considered offensive, he wasn't attracted to her because of how she spoke about others.

Emily and Brennan Divorced On Married At First Sight

Their Marriage Never Recovered

Close

Like the other couples on Married at First Sight season 17, Brennan and Emily chose to divorce. The biggest reason the pair couldn't make it work was their dishonesty with each other. Initially, the couple showed interest in each other and tried to connect during their wedding and honeymoon. However, Brennan struggled with aspects of Emily's personality that didn't align with his expectations, though he refused to acknowledge this openly.

Brennan and Emily failed to establish a genuine connection as the season progressed. Brennan eventually admitted to Emily that he wasn't attracted to her. Brennan also allegedly pursued other women while still married, which deeply hurt Emily. It became evident that Brennan and Emily were incompatible, and their marriage exacerbated their negative traits rather than fostering growth or harmony. It wasn't surprising that they divorced.

Brennan Is Private On Instagram

Brennan Is Hiding From Scrutiny

Given his absence from social media, it's tough to see precisely what Brennan is up to after the show. While he has an Instagram, it's currently private.

According to his LinkedIn, Brennan is still living in Denver, Colorado, and working as a Senior NetSuite Consultant at Sikich, a job he's held for three years.

His Instagram wasn't always private, indicating he's seeking some privacy in the fallout from the Married at First Sight season 17 finale and Reunion. Hopefully, he makes the page public again after scrutiny dies down.

Brennan's Journey On MAFS Explained

Everything Changed Early On

Brennan and Emily seemed promising at first, but things took a turn after the honeymoon when Brennan's attraction to Emily changed. Throughout MAFS season 17, Brennan failed to explain his change in feelings clearly, leaving Emily confused and desperate to salvage their relationship. As Decision Day approached, Brennan finally disclosed to Emily that he found her to be negative and mean-spirited, which greatly offended her (via Access Hollywood.) Emily, however, believed herself to be a very positive person and was deeply hurt by Brennan's accusations.

The tension between them escalated further when Brennan claimed to have saved Emily's life following an ATV accident, a statement that only fueled their animosity towards each other. Ironically, Emily's resentment towards Brennan may inadvertently confirm his assertion of her negativity. Brennan needs someone more positive in his life, and Emily might need to learn to manage her mean-spirited commentary. However, there's no getting back together for this pair.

Is Brennan Dating Someone After MAFS?

Although Brennan's marriage to Emily was difficult, he found the experience eye-opening. Coming from a very different background than the woman he was matched with, Brennan had to determine how to navigate his relationship with Emily best while deciding if he wanted to continue it outside the series. For Brennan, his attraction to Emily didn’t deepen as the relationship continued. While he found Emily physically attractive early on, he revealed that she wasn’t the person he’d typically go for in the outside world.

Having difficulty connecting with Emily, Brennan tried to keep his feelings to himself to protect Emily from him and any public scrutiny. Unfortunately, Brennan’s potentially good intentions didn’t help make his marriage work. The couple had trouble communicating throughout Married at First Sight season 17 and left things off on a sour note.

According to Brennan's Reunion update, he has worked on himself and moved on from Emily. He said he is in a happy, healthy, loving, and communicative relationship. Brennan is not still single after Married At First Sight, and he is ready to stop engaging with Emily after all the ill feelings and negativity that spawned between them.
