One Incredible Medieval Game Is Officially Getting A Long-Awaited Sequel
Summary Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 returns to Henry's quest for revenge in medieval Bohemia.
A significantly expanded scope offers a bigger world and story.
Combat enhancements add ranged weapons like crossbows and firearms, alongside brutal melee.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance made a name for itself as a medieval RPG with a uniquely grounded approach, and developer Warhorse Studios is officially returning to its world with the upcoming Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Taking place in 15th century Bohemia, the first game tells the story of a blacksmith's son named Henry who gets swept up in a civil war as he quests to avenge his parents' death. Although Henry's journey is transformative, it's never fully resolved, so the prospect of a sequel has been tantalizing ever since the game's launch in 2018.
Developer Warhorse Studios revealed Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in a digital presentation attended by Screen Rant, which also shone a spotlight on some key features of the upcoming game. As a direct sequel to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, the new game returns to Henry's quest for revenge, embroiling him in larger-scale conflicts than before.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Is A Much Bigger Game
Close
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is significantly expanding its scope from the first game, which made a point of starting at the bottom rung and telling a believable underdog story. The world in the new game is apparently twice as large as the first, and the story features five hours of cutscenes as opposed to three. Across the course of this journey, Henry will participate in large-scale battles and contend with the problems of kings, traveling through beautiful countryside and major urban development alike.
There's a big emphasis on choice and reactivity, and Warhorse Studios is striving to make Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 a world that "feels like the good old-school RPGs." If Henry stumbles around town drunk and naked, for example, people will comment on his appearance and behavior, and he can reply in turn. As he fraternizes with nobles and hones his skills, however, it might be best for Henry to think about putting his best foot forward whenever he can.

Combat is also getting expanded in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, especially when it comes to ranged weapons. The crossbow and even early firearms are making their debut, and the trailer showcases some of that newly explosive first-person action. For traditionalists, melee looks to be visceral and varied, with a brutal kneecapping standing out from the usual clashing of steel.
Over the course of developing the Kingdom Come: Deliverance games, Warhorse Studios has expanded from an initial assemblage of 11 people to a substantial 250-person team. The visual upgrades and ambitious scale of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 are definitely showing this off, even as the game remains loyal to its predecessor in its overall style. How well everything will come together remains to be seen, but Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 should be a welcome return to medieval Bohemia for fans of Henry's earlier adventures.
