Terrifier 3 director Damien Leone promises that the upcoming slasher sequel will reach a whole new level of horror madness, as filming wraps. The franchise debuted in 2016, with a microbudget slasher that follows two young characters caught up in a Halloween night killing spree by the murderous Art the Clown. The movie was produced on a budget of between $30,000 and $50,000 while grossing over $400,000 at the box office. This spawned a hugely successful sequel, Terrifier 2, which grossed more than $15 million worldwide.
As filming has just wrapped on Terrifier 3, Leone took to social media to celebrate the milestone and teased that the upcoming movie is going to be the most depraved and horrific of the franchise. Check out the director's post below:
In an Instagram post, the director discussed how the movie had been the most challenging he had made to date and promised that the sequel would "...reach a whole new level of horror madness."
Terrifier 3 Could Be The Scariest Installment In The Franchise
Terrifier 3 Will Have The Christmas Setting With Santa Claus Already Cast In The Movie.
Whether the levels of horror, gore, and gleefully twisted depravity can reach the heights of the first two movies remains to be seen, but Terrifer 3 is likely going to be the franchise's stand-out installment.
While the full plot details are under wraps, Terrifier 3 has cast its Santa Claus via first-look photos. Furthermore, the sequel will be a Christmas movie, which will add to the movie's novelty element, which is already set to be over the top. Leone's comments suggest that the sequel will likely have more terrifying aspects that could even challenge Terrifier 2's controversial bedroom scene.
Basing the movie around a holiday is thematically fitting, but the departure from Halloween could pose a risk for the franchise. However, there is an opportunity to get even bigger, dumber, and gory, with Art encapsulated in a Christmas setting. Whether Terrifier 3 will be the final installment is unclear, considering Leone has teased that Terrifier 4 could be a reality. He's not even sure if that will be the end of the franchise.
