Today's Connections Hints & Answers For April 19, 2024 (Puzzle #312)
Friday is here, and with it comes a brand new Connections to solve. We had a little advantage in today's game since one of the categories lined up nicely with a previous job we had. Sometimes that's all the steam you need to score a win in this game, once you clear out a few words, everything else slowly falls in line.
A great way to ensure a victory is to slow down when playing it, unlike some of the other one-a-day games from the New York Times, Connections does not have a timer. Being patient and making sure you have the proper connection is a great way to save some wasted attempts. I always try to look at the four words I've chosen and figure out the category before clicking submit. This is a surefire way to score a win. It's a marathon, not a race.

ATTACH WITH ADHESIVE ADHERE GLUE PASTE STICK
Yellow was the second category we scored for today and it was quite an easy one, as expected. GLUE and ADHERE started this sticky train for us and the other two words fell quickly in line. No wasted attempts, although COPY, CUT, and PASTE tried very hard to fool us. Luckily we knew the blue diamond category immediately and it kept us away from falling for that trick.

PUBLISHED LINES COPY TEXT WORDS WRITING
Green was our third win for the day and with only eight words left, it was fairly easy to spot the Connections. LIST tried to trick us a bit and we did waste one attempt trying to make TEXT, WRITING, WORDS, and LIST work. After the fail though it was a quick score and a win for the day.

DIAMOND QUALITIES CARAT CLARITY COLOR CUT
Way back in 2001, we worked at a Zales Diamond Outlet store in a now-defunct mall on the border of Nevada and California. We were good at our job too. We received top salesman for two quarters in a row and received two plaques with our name on them in lieu of a raise. Putting aside our past glory, all that experience finally paid off. The 4C;s of diamonds will forever be etched into our brain.

These were the leftover words for us today and one we didn't pick up on until it was revealed. HOLE would have fit here nicely as we've been called that multiple times in life, especially when we chuckled at someone buying a "Fair, J, SI2, .25CT" diamond earring set.
