Melrose Place Reboot: Confirmation, Cast, Story & Everything We Know

Summary Melrose Place reboot confirmed with original stars Heather Locklear, Daphne Zuniga, and Laura Leighton set to return.

The reboot's plot involves a tragic reunion sparking old flames among the original residents of Melrose Place.

Melrose Place reboot aims to capture the dramatic and soapy essence of the original series with a modern twist.

The beloved 1990s TV series Melrose Place is returning in a new reboot, and there are already a ton of exciting updates about the continuation. Premiering in 1992, the prime-time soap opera concerns the lives and loves of hip young adults in a swanky apartment building in Los Angeles. Itself a spinoff of Beverly Hills, 90210, Melrose Place earned its spot in 1990s pop culture and ran throughout the decade before ending in 1999. Noted for its over-the-top plots, the series made a star out of Heather Locklear and even earned its own short-lived spinoff, Models Inc. in 1994.

Firmly planted in the pop culture of the final decade of the old millennium, the nostalgic resurgence of 1990s TV shows has necessitated several reboots, and Melrose Place is slated to return once again. However, the newly-announced reboot isn't the first time the show was brought back, and the CW produced its own reboot in 2009 that only stuck around for a single, poorly-reviewed season. Now, the Melrose Place reboot is set to bring back several original characters and offer a modern look, though it will undoubtedly be just as dramatic and soapy as the original.

A Tragic Reunion Reignites Old Flames

Along with cast information, the announcement of the Melrose Place reboot also came with a details description of the forthcoming show's plot. When one of their old friends dies suddenly, the residents of Melrose Place from the 1990s reunite to honor their memory. However, being back together reignites old flames and sparks new passions. Though it isn't expressly stated, the reboot will likely try to recapture the soapy nature of the original.

The synopsis also promises a more modern perspective, though it isn't clear what that means yet. Since the description includes the original residents of Melrose Place, it stands to reason that more original stars will return alongside Locklear, Zuniga, and Leighton. Since steamy romance is at the forefront of the Melrose Place experience, a few of the classic show's male characters will also likely return.
