Pokémon TCG: New Carmine Secret Rare Is Already Worth Hundreds

Summary Carmine's Secret Rare card in the Pokémon TCG: Mask of Change expansion has been officially revealed.

Based on previous Full Art Trainer Card releases, Carmine's card can be worth hundreds of dollars.

Secret Rare Trainer cards like Carmine's tend to be very expensive due to rarity and character popularity.

A new Carmine Secret Rare card for Pokémon TCG’s upcoming Mask of Change expansion has been revealed, showcasing what may be an item worth hundreds once it is released in the Western market. Mask of Change is one of the Japanese sets, along with Crimson Haze, that will arrive in the West with the release of Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade in late May. Thematically, the set focuses on the Teal Mask DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, bringing forth several new creatures, Trainers, and elements from the Land of Kitakami. This includes Carmine.

The original Carmine card for Pokémon TCG: Mask of Change had already been revealed, but now, a week before the set’s release in Japan, a new Secret Rare version of her card has been shown. As reported by Pokebeach, four new Secret Rare cards for the expansion were revealed, including Carmine, Kieran, Wattrel, and Chimecho.

Images of the two Trainer cards were posted on Pokebeach’s account on X. Carmine’s Full Art Secret Rare card showcases the Trainer striking a pose, pointing her finger to the outer rim of the card, with the other hand on her hip as she looks backward toward the viewer. Kieran’s card shows the young Trainer near a bench, looking toward the viewer’s direction, too.

Carmine’s Secret Rare Card May Be Worth A Lot Of Money In Pokémon TCG

Full Art Trainer Cards Can Be Worth Hundreds Of Dollars

The reveal of Carmine’s Secret Rare card in the upcoming expansion hints at a product that may be worth a whole lot of money. Carmine is a beloved NPC from the Gen 9 games and quickly became a fan-favorite. Her decisive personality and friendship with the protagonist are major selling points, even if her Pokémon are not as tough as her brother’s. Secret Rare cards with Full Art illustrations focused on Trainers like Carmine in Pokémon TCG tend to be very expensive

This is likely a result achieved between the mix of the rarity of the card alone, how popular the portrayed character is, and how good the card is for competitive deck-building purposes.

While it is hard to determine exactly how much Carmine’s Secret Rare will be worth, previous Trainer cards of beloved NPCs have been among some of the most expensive. As reported by TCGplayer Infinite, some of the most expensive Full Art Trainer cards range from $100 to $400, a staggering price for a single card. Of course, there are cards in that category that can be purchased for less than $10, like Cynthia’s Ambition from the Brilliant Stars set, but Carmine’s card in Pokémon TCG: Twilight Masquerade does have potential.

The newly revealed card will be first released with the Mask of Change expansion in Japan on April 26, where it should undergo its first value trial. The Secret Rare Carmine card will then be released in the West with the Twilight Masquerade set, expected to arrive on May 24, when it should have its price in dollars determined. This year is looking positive for the game, as Pokémon TCG: Stellar Miracle’s release is lined up for June, further exploring the new content from the video games.
