SteamWorld Heist 2: Release Date, Trailer, Characters, & Gameplay

Summary SteamWorld Heist 2 releases this summer, expected to offer over 35 hours of gameplay with unique art and music.

The game includes turn-based combat with ricochet mechanics, silly hats, and naval combat.

Eleven unique characters with customizable jobs and over 150 guns provide diverse gameplay options.

SteamWorld Heist 2 is blasting its way into the world soon, introducing an all-new ragtag crew of Steambots to the Great Sea. Captain Leeway and his crew set sail on a wild, humorous adventure on the high-seas to solve a mystery of why the water is now becoming deadly. The Steambots of the world are beginning to have corrosion in their metal limbs and mechanical hearts, and with no clear answers as to why or how to stop it, it is up to the pirate crew to save the world.

Although a sequel to 2015's popular turn-based tactical strategy shooter, SteamWorld Heist, this is the seventh entry in the SteamWorld series, all of which are loosely connected by being in the same timeline. Like the first SteamWorld Heist game, this sequel promises to include a lot of silly ricochet mechanics alongside plundering treasure in the handcrafted world. Following turn-based combat, players can aim and shoot and watch their bullets and explosives ricochet around the walls and ceilings, hopefully landing at their destination before they bounce back at the main character.

The overall style of the game appears to remain the same as the original SteamWorld Heist with 2D, multi-level environments full of walls and obstacles for bullets to bounce off of to keep things entertaining. This time around, however, SteamWorld 2 will also include naval combat, with a lot of sailing exploration and ship-to-ship battles, with a vast and interactive map to traverse while looking for adventure and riches. The tropical seas offer dangers, but also many surprises and secrets, while the crew gains a reputation along the way.
