WARNING: Potential Spoilers for Titans #10
In recent months, the Titans' roster has appeared to be in a continual state of flux, with different members departing, joining, and returning. Now, the latest hero to exit the superhero team is the Flash. Fortunately, for both the Titans and the fate of the DC Universe, Nightwing and Donna Troy already had a replacement in mind.
Combating magic with magic may ultimately prove to be the Titans' salvation in the impending battle against Raven.
In Titans #10 by Tom Taylor and Lucas Meyer, the Flash officially takes a temporary leave from DC’s premier superhero team. Wally’s sudden departure stems from the ongoing Speed Force issues endangering reality and the return of the Reverse-Flash in Si Spurrier and Mike Deodato Jr.’s The Flash #6.
Consequently, with Wally's indefinite absence, the Titans lose not just a member but also one of their most powerful ones. However, like their mentors, Nightwing and Donna Troy prove their unparalleled forethought and adaptability by already having the perfect replacement in mind: Tempest.
Tempest Officially Joins the Titans After Wally West’s Departure From the Team
Titans #6 sees Nightwing, Donna Troy, and Tempest discussing the looming threat of Trigon, Raven’s demon overlord father, in the midst of Flash’s departure from the team. Donna pointedly mentions that since they are about to face demonic magic, they could really use a powerful sorcerer on their side, an obvious nod to Tempest, who, despite helping the team out on multiple occasions, isn’t an official member. She acknowledges his previous refusal to join when she and Dick asked, implying she is once again extending the invitation. However, this time, Garth readily accepts the offer to become an official Titan.
Tempest clarifies that his initial refusal stemmed from being under the control of a mind-controlling parasitic alien starfish, a condition he has since overcome. Tempest expresses surprise that they doubted he would accept a position on the Titans now that he has regained control of his mind. Donna clarifies that they didn't want to presume he would want to join them, especially considering the Titans' current public perception following the events of Beast World. In response, Garth firmly declares, "I'll be disliked right beside you," solidifying his unwavering commitment to joining the Titans despite potential backlash.
Tempest Is the PERFECT Addition to the Titans for the Upcoming Battle Against Raven
Unbeknownst to the Titans, their teammate Raven poses one of their greatest looming threats, as she is actually the Empath’s evil doppelganger, while the true Raven remains imprisoned within a gemstone. This malevolent counterpart, known as the Dark Winged Queen, possesses all of Raven's abilities but lacks any restraint. Therefore, Tempest joining the Titans couldn't have come at a better time, as he is the only other magic user on the team besides Raven. Consequently, combating magic with magic may ultimately prove to be the Titans' salvation in the impending battle against one of their own.
