The first episode of CloverWorks' anime adaptation of Black Butler -Public School Arc- was absolutely brilliant, reviving the series after a nearly decade-long absence. Weston College is filled with flashy new characters and an intricate mystery that Ciel and Sebastian have been tasked with uncovering, and now that they've adjusted to their new life on campus, it's time for them to begin uncovering everything they can regarding the Prefect 4.

Much like the previous episode, Black Butler -Public School Arc- releases on Saturdays. Episode #2 will release on April 20 at 9 AM (PDT), 11 AM (CDT), and 12 PM (EDT) on Crunchyroll as part of their Spring 2024 lineup. What Happened In Black Butler -Public School Arc- Episode #1?

With Ciel posing as a student and Sebastian as a housemaster, the iconic pair set out to uncover the mystery behind Weston College

In Black Butler -Public School Arc- episode #1, Ciel Phantomhive begins his student life at Weston College. After being introduced to the school's stand-in for a typical student council, the Prefect 4 (or P4), Ciel resolves himself to do whatever it takes to try and bond with the four elite students to win an audience with the mysterious Headmaster, who refuses to meet with normal students. Meanwhile, Sebastian, Ciel's iconic demon butler, has somehow managed to score himself a spot as a Housemaster for the Sapphire Owls. Sebastian, as always, aids Ciel with whatever he needs, and creates opportunities for the young earl to sneak off and attempt to speak with members of the Violet Wolf house, which fails spectacularly.

The first episode ends by revealing what exactly Ciel and Sebastian are doing at this school, revealing that Ciel was contacted by Queen Victoria regarding serial disappearances on campus, most notably, one of her relatives going missing and cutting off all communication with his family members. With their goals set to make contact with the Headmaster of Weston College, Ciel and Sebastian have begun putting the pieces they need in place to solve whatever mystery is plaguing the boarding school.
